AAEE SA Newsletter - 1st edition April 2021
Message from SA Convenor
Hello everyone,

Firstly, thank you sincerely to the outgoing committee for their hard work to further Education for Sustainability in SA. During Debra's time as Convenor, we have seen enormous growth in Advocacy with the launch of Bringing Back the Butterflies, which has impacted thousands of people and continues today! To Debra & Jo - thank you for staying on board to share your expertise. To Andy, Kaarin and Liesl, your contribution is highly valued and you will be missed.

We'd like to introduce the new committee for 2021:-
Convenor & State Liason: Naomi Findlay
Treasurer: Amy Blaylock
Secretary (minutes): Barb Jones
Secretary (web): Bruce Baker
Public Officer: Jo Hendrikx
AAEE representative: Angela Colliver
HASS SA representative: David Larritt
Committee members: Deidre Knight, David Doherty, Stephen Fuller, Debra Dickinson, Hugh Kneebone, Vanessa Greenslade, Leilani Arens

I have some big shoes to fill as Convenor and am looking forward to getting to know you all. In my current role, I teach at Hewett Primary School where I am loving running Gardening Club. I moved to Adelaide in August 2019.  Prior to this, I taught Primary Science and Physical Education in Central Outback schools in Alice Springs. My passion for the environment is in the areas of sustainable living (current study of a Diploma) and the circular economy.

Please send in stories of sustainability and any upcoming events from your site to be featured in this newsletter!

Yours in Sustainability,
Dr. Debra Bradley, Convenor (to Mar 2021) | AAEE-SA Chapter
& Naomi Findlay, New Convenor (2021-) | AAEE-SA Chapter

AGM follow up

Thank you to all members and visitors that attended the AGM and activities over the 20 and 21 March. It was a fantastic couple of days and Arbury Park Outdoor School was a perfect venue on a beautiful Autumn weekend.

Also, thanks to our guest speakers. Jo Hendrix from KESAB, Hugh Kneebone from Green Adelaide-Nature Education, and Bernadette Haggerty from Burton Primary School who all gave informative presentations to our group.

Those who attended also enjoyed a delicious morning tea and lunch followed by 40-year celebrations and a plant propagation workshop. Thank you to all involved in preparing the day and activities

At our AGM a new committee for 2021 was elected and this group will begin preparations for an exciting year of learning and development for our members.
