On Tap This Weekend 🍻

The Boys in Red are back 🏈!! Grain to Glass taps the barrels on Festival Season with their Picnique Belgique; Pennywise the Clown returns to terrorize the citizens of Derry; The Nace Brothers bring their seasoned country and blues songwriting to the stage at Paul & Jack's; and the Velo Garage gang goes on a monster hunt! Zoinks!! It's time for another weekend roundup around the district!

After a fit from Mother Nature rained out their previous quest, wannabe myth busters and gravel biking enthusiasts at Velo Garage and Tap House are giving it another go in Marshall MO with an overnight bikepacking trip in search of the mythical sasquatch-like "MoMo", who's been spotted in forests around those parts. If this sounds like you're jam, you can pay for a full turnkey overnight concierge tent via Backyards and Beyond-- or just join them for the free ride and head home! Check out Velo's FB event page for up-to-date news and notes on the trip, instructions on how to RSVP with them, and important I-70 traffic notes for the journey down!

If you're down for something less outdoorsy but still enjoying the nearly-Fall-like upper-70s/low-80s this weekend, consider the first major fall beer fest in KC: Picnique Belgique at Grain to Glass!

The event will feature Belgian beers from award-winning homebrewers, along with beers from Boulevard and Duvel, served in a souvenir taster glass. The menu includes Belgian-inspired foods, starting with Belgian fries, along with a salad and main course, and ending with a special dessert-- catered by next-door neighbor Chef Tito (American Fusion).

Guest speaker is Keke Gibb, Boulevard Microbiologist--teaching about Saison and Abbey yeast evolution, and Belgian yeast flavor production. Winners of the Picnique Belgique homebrew competition will be crowned at the event and there will be a raffle of some very special Belgian beer items, with proceeds going to help Michael Wells and family.

Admission is $45 in advance, $50 day of the event. Tickets are still available on the event's FB page!

Also outdoors is the stage at Paul & Jack's backyard, offering weekend concerts through early October.

This Friday, local favorite The Nace Brothers take the stage! Celebrating over 30 years of performing together, this fourth-generation country rock and blues band will headline a 4 hour show that plays into the late evening for a $7 cover.

The Nace Brothers are regulars at legendary nearby music venue Knuckleheads in the east bottoms. Give a listen to the band playing their set on stage at Knuckleheads right here!

This Fall looks to be the season of creepy clowns-- kicking off with Stephen King's IT: Chapter 2 at Screenland Armour!

The film reunites the child heroes of Chapter 1, now all grown up and realizing that in Derry, no one who dies there really dies... 🎈

Pennywise, the shapeshifting killer clown whose performance-art-style scares freaked out the country in 2017, returns to haunt your nightmares. Kick off Halloween nice and early with the premier party Thursday night, and be on the lookout for Screenland's extensive month-long "Shocktober" slate on their Facebook page!

If killer clowns equal a whole bunch of 'Nope!!' from you-- you can also catch "Ready or Not", David Lynch's classic "Blue Velvet", and the Mexican horror fairytale masterpiece "Tigers Are Not Afraid"!
