The sun shone as 73 players competed against fellow members in the Club Championships held in early May. There was intensity in some matches, but a level of enjoyment was also noted. Thanks to Liz Peterson, Sarah Knapp and Jane Ward for organising the event. In particular, congratulations to all participants and to the winners, listed below.

Report provided by Katrina Chisholm

As we come to the end of Round 4 of the winter pennant season our mid-week teams have been competing well and enjoying some fine conditions. The temperatures may have dropped but the lack of wild and wintery weather has avoided the need for rain delays or forfeits and allowed us to finesse our skills on court, instead of those in meteorology!

The Thursday Night Women's Doubles Division 1 Team is on top of their ladder and a good number of teams are in 2nd or 3rd positions. Keep up the good work and applying the pressure everyone as we near the half-way mark of the season.

If you're still interested in playing competitively during winter (Tuesday and Wednesday mornings or Monday and Thursday evenings), please contact the Pennant Co-ordinator: The winter months can provide opportunities to reserve for a team due to the flu season and winter holidays taking their toll on the regular team members.

Winter Pennants: Our winter pennant league has been blessed with lovely weather. We are loving watching our newest addition - our green ball team! They entered knowing it would be tough but wanted the challenge, with the aim to improve and be ready for a great summer season. We love their attitude!!

Some of the 'green ball team' are pictured below - Ally, Lily, Mia and Grace
Keep fighting hard team!

Pizzey Cup Results: Our WA Pizzey Cup team competed well in Adelaide, coming away with Bronze medals. Queensland was the winner, with NSW in second place.

It was great to see Lexie Weir and Luka Brown achieving 'All Australian.'
The School Sport Australia 'All Australian' Team is selected at the end of the Pizzey Cup. Selections are based on player's performance throughout the week of the competition, individual and team results. The 'All Australian' team are presented with medallions and will attend an event at the 2020 Australian Open.

Lexie made it through to the final of the Australian singles event and Luka lost in the quarter final. These results, combined with their performance in the team's event throughout the week, qualified them for "All Australian". Well done to Lexie and Luka. This was Lexie's 5th consecutive year representing Western Australia in the Pizzey Cup, an amazing achievement in itself.

Leadership Roles for Cottesloe Juniors: Cottesloe Juniors were well respected amongst the Pizzey Cup Team, with leadership roles appointed to Lexie Weir ((Vice Captain, Girls), Ruby Culley (Captain Girls) and Luka Brown (Captain Boys).

Leadership Roles: Lexie Weir, Ruby Culley, Luka Brown & team mate Ethan

Cottesloe had the most members of the team, with the following players representing WA: Lexie Weir, Natasha Camer-Pesci, Ruby Culley, Georgia Tovich and Luka Brown - an awesome club representation!
