Karen Meredith - House & Grounds Director:

Support poles were fixed in place on Friday, and in a week's time the sails will be up! Shortly after trees will be positioned for planting - and we're then on our way to a new look for both the playground area and the viewing area overlooking Bay 3.
The hard workers completing the rendering of the wall. A big thanks to 'them, and to Nancy for cakes, scones and sandwiches to keep the boys going!

This year's tournament, as was the case in 2019, is being organised by Liz Peterson and Sarah Knapp. All members are welcome to participate - it's an enjoyable event as well as being focused on tennis. Click here to access the 'Entry Form' and 'Information & Conditions'

Every year since 2000, there has been a tennis tournament organised as a fundraiser for the Perth Children's Hospital in Perth. This year marks the 21st in a row, and the Organising Team is delighted and privileged to be holding the event at Cottesloe Tennis Club.

The tournament is mixed doubles, played in divisions in a timed round robin. All levels of play are catered for, with the common feature being 'having good tennis and good fun while supporting a wonderful cause', the kids in PCH.

On behalf of the 'kids', the PCH Organising Team 2020 would like to say a huge 'thank you' to CTC for the club's generosity in hosting the event.

Places are rapidly booked out every year, mostly by good-hearted regulars and supporters. The Organising Team is hoping to see many CTC members participating as well - taking up an EarlyBird opportunity to register as soon as the entry forms are available. If you have any questions, please contact Bob -

The winter pennant season will start on Saturday 2 May and run for 10 weeks, with a two - three week break during school holidays. We encourage teams to self-form but will assist players, particularly new members, to find the appropriate level of competition for their skill. If you have any interest in participating - as a team, or as an individual or reserve, please submit your interest to the Pennant Co-ordinators by Friday 29 March:

Club sponsor, Curtin Heritage Living, and the Cottesloe Chapter of 'Cycling Without Age Australia', have joined forces to provide free trishaw rides for seniors. Residents at Wearne Cottesloe have been enjoying these rides for nearly two years, and the free service is now being being offered to the wider community.
A team of 'Cycling Without Age' volunteers is on hand to offer rides in Wearne’s trishaw along the beautiful coastal path in Cottesloe. Rides are designed to allow seniors, accompanied by a family member or friend if they prefer, to feel the wind in their hair as they enjoy the stunning coastal scenery and interact with all those who use our wonderful coastal path.

What's on Offer: Free rides are offered on Mondays 9.00am or 10.00am and leave from Wearne Cottesloe - 1 Gibney Street, Cottesloe. Passengers to arrive 10 minutes prior to their booked time. To secure a booking (essential), please call Wearne Cottesloe reception on 6458 7500.

Following a successful wine tasting at the club on 15 February, to which about 30 club members attended, the club bar now stocks three wines from the upmarket Sandalford Estate Reserve range:
  • Verdelho ($5 per glass)
  • SBS ($5 per glass)
  • Chardonnay ($7 per glass or $30 a bottle)
These wines are in addition to the Margaret River range the bar has always stocked. We hope members will 'drink well' and support Sandalford in their generous sponsorship.

Junior Club: We would love to see as many of our junior members as possible come along to Junior Club on Saturday mornings from 10-11:30am. This is a great way to improve while having fun playing social tennis!

Junior Pennants: We have two more rounds of pennants until the finals. Once all rounds are completed please liaise with your team manager regarding your team ladder position and finals fixtures.

North Cottesloe Primary School: The Tennis Approach coaching staff went to North Cottesloe Primary last Tuesday to coach tennis to the year 3’s,4’s,5’s and 6’s. This is part of a 4 week block of coaching Tennis Approach will deliver at the school. This is a great experience for the kids to get exposure to the sport of tennis and transition into playing at Cottesloe Tennis Club outside school time.

Perth International Pro Tour Event: Well done to Cottesloe State League player Maddy Inglis, on winning the Perth International #1!

We had six Cottesloe Tennis Club junior girls playing in the Perth Pro tour event qualifying rounds over the last two weeks. It was a great experience for Lexie Weir, Lauren Nikoloski, Jessie Culley, Ruby Culley, Lara Tovich and Natasha Camer-Pesci.

Club members came out in full force on Friday 21 Feb. to farewell Phil and Frances Barron as they bravely leave our shores for New Zealand. Phil and Frances had invited all club members to their farewell, a fun twilight tennis tournament and barbecue - and more than 80 attended!
Playing in multiple 15 min. rounds of Fast4 – each winning pair gathered a 'special pebble' as they moved to the next court, whilst losers stayed. This meant everyone got to play with different people of varying standards. And who was the winner - Augustine - with the maximum six wins!
The formalities then began. President Anne welcomed everyone, and especially Phil & Frances for hosting the evening. Having had a long friendship since 1984, she spoke of the hesitation of Phil & Frances in joining the club when they arrived in Cottesloe in 2010. It paid off for everyone - tennis and friendships for them, and for the club - multiple contributions over the years. Captain Jane Ward’s message of appreciation to Phil & Frances was read out, concluding with “as members they are keepers”. Phil & Frances were each presented with the gift of a rugby shirt embroidered with the club logo, along with a signed framed photo.
We look forward to their return visits
