The 2019 Annual General Meeting held on 25 September saw a good turnout of members. A consolidation of the club activities since the court expansion program of 2016 were summarised in the President's report - read it here.

Reports submitted by members of the Management Committee provided a good summary and were well received. Some key points included:
  • The 10 new or revamped hard courts are proving to be a wonderful asset, with the Book-A-Court system in place and working well
  • Having 200 juniors and 33 junior teams at our club is a terrific situation
  • Revitalisation of our website has improved our on-line presence considerably
  • CTC teams were the champions in both the Saturday Men's and Women's Open League finals
  • Both mid-week summer & winter pennant teams had five teams in grand finals
  • CTC finances continue to be healthy, but members are reminded that fees are due on 1 October. 75% of members have not yet paid!!
  • A upgraded children's playground has been completed, looks impressive and will assist young family participation in the club.

Congratulations to Anne Williams, the club's new President, and Ken Everett, the new Vice President. The other seven Management Committee members chose to stand again and were elected unopposed.
President:                               Anne Williams

Secretary:                               Paul Oen
Finance Director:                   Richard Atkins
Membership Director:           Amy Oen
House & Grounds Director:  Karen Meredith
Club Captain:                         Jane Ward
Mid-Week Tennis Director:   Ruth Luyer
Junior Tennis Director:         Rick Bretnall
Social Director:                      No formal appointment

Patron:            Phil Angers, Mayor of Cottesloe
Vice Patron:    Allan Wall

Allan was commended for the significant contribution he makes to the club - sponsorship, guidance to the Committee and other club contributors, input on key tennis events, and many other activities. Thank you Allan.

Anne Williams, incoming President, thanked Ian Hutton, the outgoing President, for his long commitment to the club - retiring after serving two years as Vice-President and two years as President. Anne also had this to say: “I am thrilled to have Ken (Everett) join too - and proud and awed by the strength and commitment to the club of the current and ongoing committee members. It is an amazing team to be given the role of chairing.”

President Anne Williams: Anne has been a key member of CTC since joining in 1997. Never a tennis player (she was a junior sprinter!), Anne started her tennis life via coaching with David Culley - and was soon hooked on the game and the club. A year later Anne became a mid-week pennant player, followed by the role of Mid-Week Pennant Co-ordinator for several years, until in 2019 she became the club’s Vice President.
Anne's business career in information technology is impressive, and her expertise in many high-powered roles in this field will spin off on our club. Anne, with her husband, Dai, enjoy active and challenging recreational activities, especially adventurous walking trips, high-level sailing, and tennis of course.
Vice President Ken Everett:  Ken, with his wife and three children, moved to Perth from South Africa in 2009. He started playing tennis shortly thereafter, and despite living in Dalkeith began playing at Cottesloe with the Friday South Africa / Zimbabwe group - and the bug bit!

Ken is an electronics engineer, has a business that makes GPS tracking devices and sells them worldwide. When he isn’t playing tennis or working, Ken enjoys cycling, boating and fishing - and we're sure he'll now use his business acumen and interest in outdoor pursuits to enhance his role as Vice-President.

Thanks from Karen Meredith, House & Grounds Director, to the small but focused group who pitched in and worked to enhance the look of the club in preparation for the upcoming season.

These Championships are the pinnacle event of the Australian Australian junior tournament calendar, and Cottesloe Tennis Club has the honour of being the championship venue. The best 128 junior players in Australia in the 12/u and 14/u age groups will showcase their skills and talent - and at times probably outshine adult players!

A few weeks ago we passed the five year anniversary of Cottesloe Tennis Club hosting the Davis Cup World Group Play-Off, Australia v Uzbekistan, from 12 - 14 September 2014. It was a great privilege for our club to be chosen as the venue from several other contenders in Australia.

What a weekend it was, it rained on the days prior to the event, and it rained after the event, but for the three days of play the sun shone and the atmosphere was like that of an international event!  The journey of creating such a significant event was captured on DVD. Click on this link to view:
In recent years many of us have seen John arriving at the club on his colourfully painted moped. John, a past long-term member and contributor to our club, was an enthusiast for life - surfing, cycling, tennis, art (his collectable painted sticks), and his family - all with a very positive attitude. Our condolences to Chandra, also a past member of CTC, and John's family, following John's passing on 17 August.
Refurbished clubhouse floors - wow!

Our club is fortunate to receive generous sponsorship from individuals and organisations who sponsor the club financially or 'in kind'. Most of the organisations are known to club members - it would be great if  we could all create an opportunity to reciprocate the generosity of sponsors by using their services, or purchasing from them. Our sponsors are listed below.
