Everyone Follows

This week's devotion is written by Grace Heimerdinger-Baake, Director of Youth and Family Ministry.

"There are different spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; and there are different ministries and the same Lord; and there are different activities but the same God who produces all of them in everyone." -1 Cor. 12:4-6

This past Sunday was Youth-Led Worship. This particular Sunday is when children and youth of the congregation participate in all aspects of worship, from serving as a communion assistant to leading music to giving the sermon. RLC has talented children and youth who want to live out their faith, assist with worship, and share the good news of the resurrected Jesus. Turns out, our children and youth are eager to assist with worship and to feel a part of the worship service.

As worship was happening, I found myself thinking about Paul’s letter to the people of Corinth when Paul writes that anyone who is a follower of Jesus is part of the body and every part of the body is blessed with unique gifts and talents. Read the rest...

Do you like to use your gifts in meaningful ways? We need your help to make RLC go. Read the ways to help below, and reply to this email if you’re interested in learning more.

Sunday Morning Volunteer Opportunities:
Are you friendly and welcoming? You could be a greeter, saying hello to worshipers as they come in before worship.

Are you good with technology? You could join the stream team and help with the sound board or livestream during worship.

Are you comfortable speaking in front of people? You could be a reader– Pastor Beth will even help you pronounce the unfamiliar names.

Are you good at giving directions? You could be an usher and help visitors find a seat and let worshipers know when to receive communion.

Do you love little children? You could volunteer to supervise the nursery.

Do you like to set up and clean up behind the scenes? You could be part of the Altar Guild, our team that prepares and cleans up communion and changes the altar paraments.

Do you love offering hospitality? You could sign up to prepare and serve coffee and treats for fellowship time.

Do you want to help as a worship leader? You could be a communion assistant, distributing juice and wine to worshipers.

Reply to this email if you'd like to sign up or learn more-- and if you're not sure, we'll help you learn how to usher, serve communion, make coffee, or whatever you'd like to try.

Mikala, Bryan, and big sister, Keli, welcomed Jay into their family on Wednesday, April 27. The first few weeks of having a newborn is exciting and challenging, so let's help out the Springer family with some meals. You can prepare and drop off a meal or order take out from a restaurant and deliver it to the house.

We are doing a fund-raising campaign to replace the projector in the sanctuary. This project will get the wires off of the floor, and “clean up” the organ side of the space to allow for more flexibility with communion and musical groups.
The project is expected to cost around $2,500, and we are already halfway there. If you would like to help, just put “projector” on the memo line of your check, envelope, or Tithely contribution.
