War in Ukraine: responding

The UN estimates that 12 million people inside Ukraine will need relief and protection, while more than 4 million Ukrainian refugees may need protection and assistance in neighbouring countries in coming months. Here’s ways we can help

Pray

The first thing we can do is pray. There are some resources on our Wild Church page, following the world day of prayer on 27th Feb. We are actively seeking ways to connect more personally with Ukraine refugees in the future, and will share specific prayer requests when we can.

Give

As a church, we commit to give a proportion of the regular giving we receive to support charities doing things in keeping with our values that we can’t do directly ourselves. Where possible, we try to establish ongoing prayerful relationships with such mission partners. In light of the current crisis, Church Council have agreed to donate £200 from these church funds to the DEC Humanitarian Appeal as an initial contribution. THANK YOU for your part in this.

Connect

There are thought to be more than three million refugees who have now fled Ukraine. Some of you have already signed up to host a family. This is not something everyone can do, but as a church family, we will be here praying and practically supporting both the refugees and host families.

End of Term Plans - April 3rd lunch and prayer

The following Sunday, please bring your own picnic and join our end of term picnic communion lunch at 12 noon, meeting at Pathfinder Primary. Weather will dictate if we are inside or out!

Afterwards, if you can stay (1.30-3), we’d love you to join our time of prayer and discernment as we welcome our Bishop’s Visitor, Mark Rodel, to help us discern what and where God is calling us to be over the next 5 years. As we dream about how we’ll be Praying, Exploring, and Sharing… we’d love to share cake! So, if you can, please bring some down to share.

Easter Plans

(Most events are outside unless very wet/cold - meet at Pathfinder School and follow the signs)

• Sunday April 3rd : End of term BYO Picnic Communion Lunch 12 - 1.30 (followed by church meeting with our Bishop's Visitor asking "where and what is God calling us to be in 5 years times)

• Wednesday 6th April: Chicken Soup for the Soul - preparing for Easter 8-9pm MEET AT CHURCH HOUSE, 6 woodpecker close)

• Palm Sunday 10th April: Easter Trail 3.30pm - heading outside to explore the Easter Story

• Maundy Thursday 14th April: A Reflective Campfire with poetry and Taize-style chants 7.30-8.30pm (out the front of Pathfinder Primary)

• Good Friday 15th April: A Reflective Walk around Northstowe (including Hot Cross Buns) 10.30am

• Easter Sunday 17th April: 9am Campfire Communion (followed by an Easter Egg Hunt)

• NO GATHERING on April 24th
