Your anxiety is trying to tell you something.

If you have ever struggled with anxiety, it is likely that at one point or another you have asked yourself "why"?

Why me? Why do I have to deal with this? Why won't the anxiety just go away?

It's completely normal to feel this way. Anxiety can be debilitating - why should anyone have to deal with it?

Unfortunately, while it can be a lot to handle, anxiety is present for a reason. Anxiety is a message.  It’s your body’s way of screaming at you to pay attention.

To what? That depends on the person. But without the anxiety, would you have ever stopped to find out?

"...Your feelings aren't random, they are messengers. And if you want to get anywhere, you need to be able to let them speak to you, and tell you what you really need."
- Brianna Wiest
Don't get us wrong, it's still imperative to learn how to manage your anxiety and minimize its effects. But if you never tackle WHY the anxiety is present in the first place, no amount of tricks or techniques will help it go away completely.

Think of anxiety as a tree.
The leaves represent the symptoms of anxiety - what's most visible to the world and changes as the seasons change.

The branches represent the external influencers of anxiety (ie. school, technology, relationships, etc.). Still visible but you may have to look a little closer to identify them.
The roots are how the rest of the anxiety gets fed. Here in lies the foundation of anxiety - it's birth. These also happen to be the most deeply buried components - ones that take time and effort to reach.
Now think about anxiety tips and techniques as the wind, trying to blow down the tree. Sure you may be able to break away some of the branches and blow away some of the leaves, but the roots will keep the tree standing.  But what if you break away the roots? Suddenly that wind can make a much larger impact.
How to Get to the Root(s) of your Anxiety

What Miranda's anxiety was trying to tell her

"I never put two and two together that my acne prone skin, awful sleep cycle, constant mood swings, irrational/erratic emotions, and constant headaches could be a result of my eating habits."
