Dear Hygiene Families:

It is hard to believe that I am writing the last newsletter of the 2018-2019 school year.  This spring has flown by and before we know it, we will all be enjoying the long summer days with our loved ones.

The Talent Show last Friday was outstanding.  I would like to take this opportunity to extend my deep gratitude and appreciation to all the parent volunteers who worked on this event from beginning to the end.  It was a wonderful evening. We so appreciate all the work they did to make it such a successful event.

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, I want to take this opportunity to highlight some celebrations and events we have planned for our soaring students, staff and community.

Our annual Games Festival will take place on May 16.  This is a school wide event that will take place in the back field starting at 9:45 am.

As we plan for the upcoming year, we would like to inform all students and parents of their upcoming teacher.  During the week of May 13, parents will be notified who their child’s teacher will be for the upcoming school year.  On May 17, we will have a Move Up Day school wide where your child will meet their new teacher for the 2019-2020 school year.  This will help form relationships early on to ensure a smooth transition. Our teachers and staff are looking forward to Move Up Day.

Parents, please mark your calendars for May 22nd.  We will be holding our Continuation Ceremonies for kindergarten and 5th grade.  The kindergarten ceremony will begin at 10:00 am and the 5th grade continuation ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm. We are looking forward to celebrating these milestones with our sweet students so please join us in the celebration.

Our last day of school is May 23rd.  For all those families who are new to the Hygiene Community, this is a very special day for the entire community.  All families are invited to attend our end of the year celebration and picnic that begins at 12:00 on the south lawn.  We will have a short presentation from our departing 5th grade class as well as Kona Ice for everyone!

As I reflect back on the 2018-2019 academic year, I want to thank you for your outstanding support and generous contributions to our school. I feel fortunate to work with all of you and to serve the Hygiene Community and look forward to seeing everyone on May 23rd  at the end of the year picnic.

Sincerely,

Renee Collier, Principal

Move-Up Day
We are beginning to plan for the 2019-20 school year.  Currently, all grade level teams will remain the same with the exception of first grade.  In first grade, we will have three teachers - Ms. Moll, Ms. Evans, and Ms. Akin.  On May 17th, we will have a "Move Up Day".  This will be the time for students to meet next year's class teacher.  It is a ver exciting day for all students and teachers.  Parents, we will inform everyone of your child's class placement the week of May 12.  As always, thank you very much for the partnership.

Thank you Boulder Ballet!

Thank you
Boulder Ballet! 5th grade began working on their end of the year dance routine.   Amy Earnest, outreach coordinator for Boulder Ballet and Hygiene PTO made this awesome opportunity possible this year!  Be sure to attend the picnic on the last day of school to see the 5th graders perform their amazing dance moves.   More details to come.

Innovation Academy Information

Hello SVVSD Elementary School Parents & Guardians!

We would like to share an exciting summer program opportunity for elementary students with you. Innovation Academy is designed in partnership with IBM and taught by St. Vrain Valley School District educators, IBM Volunteers, and other SVVSD High School Students. Previously this program has been invitation only. This year, we have additional spaces that we can offer to other interested students of SVVSD. We invite you to register online at this link between now and May 24. While this is not a “gifted program”, many students who attend have and / or develop the qualities of high achievers.

RISK-TAKER  | THINKER |  CURIOUS | PERSISTENT  | CREATIVE | COOPERATIVE

Wondering if this is a good fit for your child?  Does your child display these characteristics on a regular basis?  Can you think of specific examples when your child has demonstrated these traits at home or in school?  Does your child thrive in situations where thinking, solving, collaborating and brainstorming are the norm? Then this program is right for you! Please note registration is first come first serve and there are limited spots available. As of May 2nd, there were a limited number of spots available so sign up now if you’re interested.

Session 1 (students currently in Kinder, first, or second grade):
