Welcome to our 9th fortnightly newsletter!

We hope you managed to get to one of the many events that took place during Refugee Week.  HostNation had a great day at the Arsenal Community football tournament, with our 7-a-side doing us proud and looking very smart in their HostNation T-shirts!

Next up is our Summer Picnic, this time on Saturday 10th August, in Regent's Park and if you're around we hope to see you and your friend. More details to follow, but please Save the date!
We have temporarily closed our befriender registration, to shorten the amount of time people are likely to have to wait for a match while we build up referrals. But we know there is a lot of goodwill towards us out there, so if you have friends or family who are impressed by what you are doing and would like to be involved with HostNation in some way, perhaps they could make a recurring donation?

With all our wonderful volunteers we've come along way in 2 years but we cant run on friendship alone and we could be facing a funding gap later this year, so If each one of you was able to sign up a friend or relative to a £10 a month donation, this gap would be considerably narrowed!

Here's the link to our Total Giving page.
Opportunities for your friend

Once again, Mike's Table have generously donated up to 6 tickets for their next event, at Poster, 460 Hackney Rd, London E2 9EG. on 10 July, from 7pm. This time the supper club includes board games. You can take your own game to play with your friend or join people you'll meet on the night. There will be stacks of games there. If you'd like a pair of tickets email info@hostnation.org.uk.

The University of East London is running free English Language (ESOL) classes at their Stratford campus, every weekday from 9th July to 2nd August,10am to 12 as part of their  CELTA teacher training programme. They need students for the trainees to teach. If your friend would be interested, please email Carolyn Conway at c.conway@uel.ac.uk or call 0208 223 2422.

Migrateful, the chefs training project, still has 6 places available on its course starting in September and would very much welcome applications from HostNation befriendees who have an interest in their national cuisine. For further information go to Become a Migrateful Chef

There will also be a wide range of food and drink available throughout the festival.

Don't forget we are now a member of Kew Gardens Community Scheme. You and your friend (and their family) can visit the Gardens for free. To gain entry, email us at http://info@hostnation.org.uk, we'll give you an electronic copy of membership to show at the gate. No need to book.

One last thing: we don't send this newsletter out to befriendees, as we know many don't have good access to wifi.  But we know that some of you are forwarding it to your friends. This is a great idea especially if you are no longer seeing them regularly.  If they use email sending them this newsletter can be a good way of keeping in touch and reminding them of some of the good things available in London!

All best wishes, the HostNation team
