Dear Parents and Students,
What a wild year it has been so far! I can’t believe the time is here for me to officially leave Harvest staff.
When I first walked through the doors of Harvest in spring of 2008, I had no idea I would find family, a community, strong spiritual formation, and a love for youth ministry through attending, serving, and working here. I am so happy God works in mysterious ways and I found myself on staff (again) in 2017 working with our students.
Earlier this year when I announced that my husband and I would be moving to the Washington D.C. area in the fall, I was thankful we had 5 months full of Summer programming and FUN to be had. However, we had no idea what would happen with the pandemic. To be honest, I have been grieving the loss of these events and the memories we were supposed to share. It’s been a difficult reality to accept. I am thankful we have had the Zoom calls each week to connect during this time.
Parents, thank you for trusting and allowing me and our volunteers to get to know your incredible students. Thank you for all that you do for your children and the ways you have supported this ministry. I am better because I have witnessed love and grace through how you parent. You are out of this world. You are loved.
Students, spending time with you each week was the best part of every week for me. From scatter ball to small groups to worship to all of the trips, I will forever cherish it all. In the words of at least one graduate at every banquet since forever, “KEEP. SHOWING. UP.” — You are loved and valued and wanted. The community you will find at Harvest and in youth group is like nothing you’ll experience again. It’s beautiful and life-changing, especially for this season of your lives. Thank you for trusting me and putting up with me. I am so proud of you and I am always rooting for you.
Ultimately, my heart is filled with gratitude as I recall all of the memories we have shared at Harvest. God is moving and God’s love is powerful. I am better because I know you. Thank you — for everything! May God bless and keep you, my friends.
With all my love,
Ginny Newton ❤️
