The Swan Quiz, Wednesday 22nd

The Swan's very nearly tame quiz master, Martin, returns with another baffling selection of questions to quench your thirst for knowledge whilst you quench your thirst for beer*!  (* other alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments are available!)

The Rounds being presented will cover History, Weather, Planets, Landmarks, and Sport. 7:30pm start so book a table for your team of up to six players with the pub.manager@theswanwindsor.co.uk and make sure of your space - just  don't forget to bring your pen, spectacles (if required), and a smattering of brain cells. We will provide the answer sheet for the 50 questions and hope you can fill it in by the time the answers are given at around 9pm.

EPIC THURSDAYS

The School is back and in charge of the pub on Thursdays between 11am and 1pm. As well as offering great coffee and cake, they will be doing fab light snacks too such as their epic toasties. The students will also be offering a range of craft work too. Epic Thursday will definitely not disappoint.

World's Biggest Coffee Morning

We will once again be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support by hosting one of our coffee and cake mornings at The Swan on Friday 24th September between 10:00 and 12:00. It'll be £5 for a drink and cake, all money raised will be donated to Macmillan - we'd love to beat the £600 raised last year! Donations of home-made cakes/biscuits/savouries (with a list of ingredients) needed and welcomed. Contact rachel.cross@theswanwindsor.co.uk for details.

Creative Art Class

On Wednesday night we held our first ever art class for adults in The School House, which is intended for complete beginners. The group got stuck in straight away, looking at shape, light and shade. Next week they are planning to put what they learned into practice by drawing fruit. Classes are small, so there is plenty of opportunity for one to one tuition and work on a rolling three week schedule, so it is not too late to sign up for the next cycle. Given the concentration in the pictures, we   are all looking forward to discovering the Caravaggio of Clewer!

Cheese & Wine

Whilst the artists were busy in The Schoolroom, the rest of the pub was enjoying our first Cheese and Wine Night since lockdown lifted. Mike Unger, our local Cheesemunger, returned to The Swan with a selection of hard, soft, blue and goats cheeses to tickle the taste buds, all served with crackers and locally made chutney. Tempting special offers on our wine list also ensured that a great night was had by all - even if the bar did smell just a little bit cheesy for the evening! Mike will be back on Tuesday 19th October and 16th November, so book your table now and come down and join us!

Building Update

The Warriors have continued with the behind-the-scenes work in The Kitchen and The Storeroom Even thou' the school is now back, they are charging ahead getting ready for the 2nd fix of the electrics and the installation of the kitchen equipment.

Following a report produced by a professional fire risk assessment company, the team could carry on with the plan: more fire boarding and preparing for battening the walls in The Kitchen. We will be adding some photos to the website shortly.

For aficionados, this is the new staircase up to The School House with what was purported to be the tunnel to the church at its base. The staircase has had its 2nd fix cover this week, sounds simple but needs a lot of work and time.

The Swan is now looking for talented people to join our excellent bar team. Immediate start possible. Please email your CV to Micky, our general manager. We are unique being a community pub with an on-site 6th form school too - this is no ordinary bar job and will offer some very unique challenges and experiences. PS... I hear the manager is pretty decent too
