Hi Friend,

It's all go at The Swan this week:
  • Bike security marking
  • Mini-Market and BBQ
  • Cribbage and Creative Drawing
And lots more.

This Saturday Thames Valley Police will be registering bikes between 11am-2pm so bring your bike to The Swan to get it security marked! WCH will also be selling good quality bike locks, lights, inner tubes and more. The free 'bike kitchen’ hour is 11am-12pm.
To avoid disappointment book here. You can follow WCH on Facebook or Instagram for more info.

Another packed Courtyard with a variety of stalls including fresh market garden produce. Produce will be available from the allotment this month. There will be Cheesemunger, Jams and Chutneys, Market Garden produce, books and Swan merchandise, plus BBQ. More stalls are yet to be confirmed. The BBQ will offer a range of burgers, sausages, vegan and children's options.

Another welcome opportunity to either learn new, or improve existing, skills. Once up and running, players find that it is enjoyable, addictive and a great night out. There is an informal group currently meeting at The Swan (Tue 28 Sep at 7pm) with a view to playing on a regular basis. Experienced players will be explaining all the rules and helping novices through the whole process. Why not give it a go?

Local Creatives is an art aceademy offering leisure based art sessions for adults taught by professionals. Dean will be offering a mix of drawing and painting sessions ideal for complete beginners or those with some previous experience. £5 for the first session, £20 per session thereafter. For more information or to join, please contact or call 07557 226263. October will be soon upon us and what better way to celebrate than with our very own Oktoberfest? Fri 1 - Sun 3 October at The Swan. Oktoberfest is back! We will be having a BBQ, quality Deutsches QualitätsBier, Lederhosen and music too. Look out for more details in the days ahead. To get you in the mood take a look at what happened last October.

Another busy Quiz Night saw a new team crowned as worthy winners. Calling themselves the Sensual Smutty Swans they fought off all comers and earnt their prize - a £30 voucher from The Cheesemunger. The next Quiz Night will be on Wed 13 Oct at 7:30. Book early to avoid disappointment by emailing

With the harvest moon hanging low overhead, the GR6 team have been making the most of the fine weather down at the allotment harvesting some beautiful veg which was on sale at the Epic Thursday market yesterday and will also be on sale at The Swan Mini Market on Sunday. To mark British Food Fortnight the quintessentially British treat of Afternoon Teas, complete with hand-made decorative cake stands and teapots, was also on offer. The courtyard was buzzing as everyone enjoyed the autumn sunshine and service with a smile.
This week has seen the opening of the GR6 office, which you may have seen being installed in Stable One. This new space gives the GR6 team a breakout room for small sessions and meetings, as well as a therapeutic space. We're really pleased with the work that has been done and want to thank everyone in The Swan community for their patience whilst this vital work has been carried out.

The WINGS Programme will now be manning The Swan on Tue and Wed mornings. Come in and try coffee, cakes and bakes from 10.30am till 1pm. The Swan is a great venue for your community group, club get-togethers, social gatherings or business meetings and The Wings Team are happy to cater for these larger groups.

Aided by Ian (Plasterer) and Keith (Electrician) the Warriors have seen further significant progress this week. The kitchen ceiling now has 2 hour fire insulation. Store room ceiling has now been plastered and by the time you read this the Kitchen ceiling should have reached a similar milestone. Meanwhile further work on the electrics for the stables is nearing completion with the added advantage of improving the power supply to the outside heaters - winter is coming!

The sun is still shining and The Swan is in full flight. Come and see for yourself.

Warm regards,

The Friends of The Swan
