Hi Friend,

Supporting hearts and minds with something everyday this week:
  • A safe place to chat
  • Defib training
  • Return of Bingo
  • Charity Nominations invited
So much more than a pub! Read on to make sure you don't miss out.

The Cycle Hub team will be back in position at The Swan at 11:00 on Sat 15 Jan to provide help and advice on minor bike maintenance. There will also be an organised ride (an off road explorer ride via Stag Meadow) departing from the pub at 11:30. If you would like to a slot at the Bike KItchen, or plan to join the ride, it would be a great help if you could confirm your intention via the Cycle Hub page.

This Brew Monday, 17 Jan, The Green Room School is reminding everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with the people you care about. The Swan will be open from 10.30am until 12.00pm to give you a space to meet a close friend, family member or colleague to have a chat. Tea, coffee and cake will be available throughout and all proceeds on baked goods will be donated to SAMARITANS. Please come and join us, grab a brew and have meaningful conversation with those closest to you.

The Defibrillator was been proudly installed on the wall of The Swan a little over a year ago. We are delighted to announce that David Bullock, from the Windsor Community Defib Project, will be running training sessions to spread the knowledge on how to use these vital pieces of equipment.
The first session is on Tue 18 Jan at 6:30pm in The School Room. Spaces are limited so please book via  A second session is planned for 1 Feb with timings yet to be confirmed.

Local Creatives will return to The Swan for its weekly Wednesday night drawing and painting sessions for adults on 19th Jan at 7pm. All abilities are welcome and with a £5 trial session on offer get in touch today to book your place. Please email to book your space and visit for further details.

It's back, it's live and it's in the pub! After a prolonged Covid absence our resident caller, Richard Allen, is primed and ready for action on Thu 20 Jan at 7:30. Always a popular evening book early to avoid missing this welcome return and get your dabbers out of hibernation. Book your table by emailing

For the first time in 2022 Dublicious is on the menu with Thai Curry Night. Choose between the meat option, Beef curry, vegetarian option, either yellow or green curry and the fish option of yellow Seabass curry. Take a look here for how to order ready for collection from The Swan 6-6:30pm on Fri 21 Jan.

We have loved being able to support the last two local charities nominated by yourselves – Family Friends and The Windsor Homeless Project. We are now seeking nominations for a 2022 local charity and need your help. Please email your nomination to Richard Douglas by 23 Jan with a short note outlining why it would benefit from The Swan community’s support. Nominations must be for a registered charity and one that provides support to beneficiaries within the local Windsor area. Previous charities can be re-nominated. It is planned to announce nominations on 28 Jan with voting by the community open for two weeks. The Swan charity for 2022 will be announced on 18 Feb.

Congratulations to The Interminables who were worthy winners of the quiz this week, winning a Swan Bar Card to the value of £25 to enjoy at their leisure. The next quiz will be on Wed 26 Jan at 7:30. Book your table by emailing

GR6 were back in full force ready to start 2022 meaning business. The first Thu back was a training day for Epic Thursday students with a healthy competition between the ‘Waitering’, ’Bar’ and ‘Marketeers’ teams. Rounds included an assault course of cleaning tables, serving drinks and tidying a cluttered Courtyard as well as a Quiz on prices for drinks and role-play with a tricky customer. The first Epic back yesterday was a great success (with a sell out on their homemade pesto and sweet potato & rosemary soup). They were able to apply all the skills they’d practised. Come on down and see for yourself every Thu 11am-1pm during term time!

How many Warriors does it take to pull a steel-wired armoured cable through a pipe under The Courtyard? Fortunately there were enough willing volunteers on hand to safely achieve a task that upgrades the level of electricity supply to power all the equipment in The Kitchen. There was also an enthusiastic team of volunteers assisting with the equipment clean up prior to it's arrival into The Kitchen. Whilst not quite ready, excitement is mounting as the ugly duckling kitchen is soon to be more in keeping with the beautiful Swan that so many have been involved in creating.

Warm regards,
