Your UWC Board and I are thinking of you with love as we all hunker down. Please think of UWC, along with your family, your church etc., as a resource and link to the outside world.

GOOD NEWS! Scholarships
Our UWC Scholarship Committee has sent congratulatory letters to our 22 scholarship recipients, who will be receiving $1000 each to pursue their higher education. Thank you to chairs Avril Allan and Penny Johnson and to members: Sharon Delp, Sharon Jordan-Evans and Jackie Hogan. And thanks to all of you who worked on and donated to our Holiday Luncheon Fundraiser!🤗 Tech Trek
We have selected two Santa Lucia Middle School 7th grade girls to attend AAUW Tech Trek camp at UCSB in July. Our selection team (of UWC member Dr. Casey Erickson, Rotary Youth Services chair Cynthia Neer and myself) held ZOOM interviews with the finalists last Friday. One camper is being sponsored by the AAUW SLOCO Interbranch Council and one by UWC and Cambria Rotary in a co-sponsorship. 🔬🔭(If camp should be cancelled due to the pandemic, our funding will rollover to next year).
Future Meetings: We continue to investigate ZOOM meetings and innovative ways to announce and honor our Scholarship and Tech Trek students, while sharing this celebration with you.
Nominating Committee
A Nominating Committee composed of Jennifer Lawson, Eunice Wilson and Helen Pitton is preparing the slate of our 2020-2021 UWC Board Members. Fortunately, most of our current Board has agreed to stay on to complete their terms. The Committee will present the slate in April; the election will be held in May; and the installation will take place in June.
