KEC/Jefferson County Environmental Coalitions
Joint General Meeting at Jefferson County Library

Wednesday, May 22nd 6-8PM

Hi KEC Members,

Special plan for this month's KEC General Meeting!

It will be a joint meeting with our partners in the Jefferson County Environmental Coalition. Exceptionally, this will occur 6 PM this Wednesday at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Avenue, Port Hadlock, WA. This is a rare opportunity to get the two counties’ coalitions together, communicate with each other and with a key elected official, and ACT!  Carpooling with other KEC'ers is strongly encouraged. Your presence is needed!

Of very special note: Sen. Christine Rolfes will be our speaker. She’ll talk about the glyphosate study group bill (SB 5597) that we’ve worked on with her, and will ask her to clarify how and why the finished product has fallen short—and what can be done. We will also follow up with her on the email exchange in which DNR instructed Pope how to get around an environmental impact study without a review: how might Sen. Rolfes be able to advocate for us here too?

Several other important items on the agenda
  • Update on Bee Funeral :bee:
  • Update on what we know about Pope's spray schedule for the season
  • Changes to meeting schedule for both coalitions (KEC and JeffCo)
  • Letter writing campaign to school districts to stop spraying
  • CELDF and Democracy School
  • Website update, social media outlets
  • Farmers Markets
  • Kitsap County Dept of Community Development (DCD) Timber Harvest Practices-changes
  • Deforestation Maps
  • Kingston High School Enviro Club/ Styrofoam collection
  • Picketing
Thank you! We look forward to seeing you there!
