Dear reader,

At Tangent, we’re continuing to generate significant social and economic impact through these uncertain times. The last few weeks have witnessed many more highlights and achievements for us, as we successfully held several virtual open evenings, featured in Trinity’s annual publication and concluded our LaunchBox summer student accelerator with Demo Day.

As a result of COVID-19, for the first time ever the annual highlight of entrepreneurship in Trinity College Dublin was held remotely, enabling us to enjoying the pitches from the comfort of our own homes. Regardless of the virtual medium, we witnessed the exceptional calibre of our LaunchBox 2020 teams, who exemplified why Trinity College Dublin has been ranks No.1 for student entrepreneurship in Europe. Read on to find out where you can watch the event back!

We have an exciting programme of events planned for the new academic year and look forward to welcoming our new students at this coming Freshers Week and the Trinity Innovation Festival. We are also delighted to report that our undergraduate certificate has achieved an all-time record for sign-ups!

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon,

Ken

LaunchBox 2020: Demo Day

For the first time ever, LaunchBox Demo Day took place online. Premiering simultaneously on Tangent TV and on our Facebook  page, viewers were treated to 10 fantastic pitches from this year's LaunchBox start-ups. Launchbox Demo Day is always the culmination of a huge amount of hard work and dedication for our start-ups, and this and this has never been more true than in 2020. When schools and universities were closed back in March, these teams were just a fortnight into the programme after pitching for their places. However, over the subsequent 6 months, their enthusiasm, engagement and dedication over the course of the programme has been exemplary, and the innovation on display during Demo Day was nothing short of spectacular.

After much deliberation, the judges came to an unanimous decision, placing Volymi and EVE as runners-up and crowning ProMotion as the winners of LaunchBox Demo Day 2020!
