“You’re off to great places. Today is your first day!
Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”
– Dr. Seuss

The new school year has begun, this photo is all the children at the Rescue Mission on the first day back to school. The Thai school year has two terms, from May until late September and from mid-October until the end of February. The children have a long summer break during March and April.

We are passionate about education at Rescue Mission for Children as we know it is the most powerful way to break the cycle of poverty. Going to school equips our children with knowledge, literacy and numeracy skills, life skills and the capacity to find meaningful and safe employment as adults.

As you can see in this photo, each student requires a number of different uniforms to attend school, including a formal uniform, a scout uniform, cultural and sport uniform, all worn on designated days for each age group. This is something that our sponsors help to provide for the children, as well as school shoes, back packs and other school supplies.
Graduation celebrations!
Congratulations to all our children who have graduated Year 6 and will now progress to High School. This is a huge achievement for these children, many of whom had a late start to their education. Most children come to Rescue Mission speaking only their local hill tribe dialect, such as Akha, Palong or Lahu, so they have had to learn the Thai language for school, as well as learning English as part of their school curriculum. Many had never held a pen or pencil, or seen a book before beginning their primary school education.  We are incredibly proud of their hard work, tenacity and commitment to learning, and we know the sky is the limit for them as they continue to pursue their dreams.
“Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world.”
– Malala Yousafzai

With the end of the 2021-2022 fiscal year fast approaching, now is a perfect time to consider making a charitable donation to support the life-changing work of Rescue Mission for Children.

Giving to charity at the End Of Financial Year is not only a chance to make a difference; it’s also an excellent way to reduce your tax burden for the year through either personal or corporate donations. You can claim a tax deduction on any financial gift to a registered non profit organisation such as RMFC. Donate before June 30th and we will send you a receipt so you can claim it on this year's tax return.
 Developing a love for music
Many of the older boys at the Rescue Mission have a keen interest in playing the guitar. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, the boys have had three new guitars donated to them.  They are learning how to play from Pastor Yesue, and they also help to teach each other. The boys share the guitars between them and they are taking turns in leading worship for all of their peers. Music is a wonderful enrichment to their lives, and they are gaining confidence and life-long skills as they grow as musicians and leaders.

Sponsor a Child Today

The RM4C Child Sponsorship fund is a three tier structure that provides a caring home, shelter, nutritious food, clothing, medical care and an education for our children. This is the very core of our existence as a mission to protect and empower vulnerable children who are at risk.
