As we come to the end of what has been a very unusual and challenging year, HEP would like to thank all its members for their constant and continued support, patience and enthusiasm over this last year. We’re looking forward to the return of some face-to-face meetings in 2021/22 as well as welcoming even more teachers across the borough to participate in a range of high quality training and events.
Don't forget you can find all of the meetings, training dates and resources on the HEP website
Have a restful summer break.
Would your school be willing to help? Supporting a ‘research week’ in schools?
A new kind of children and young people’s plan is coming for 2022-2027
To inform our new strategy, LBH wish to undertake large-scale engagement with children and young people – aiming for around 6,000 responses from 5-25 year olds. We will also speak with parents/carers.
New One Hounslow CYP Plan
Focus on what CYP need to have in place for holistic good quality of life – could include elements such as Housing, Leisure, Urban Design, Employment, Community Safety etc. as well as children’s services areas.
Focuses on what needs to change to become that borough – will include action by children’s services but also by wider partners in and outside of the Council.
System-wide approach – everyone pulling together to tackle ROOT CAUSES of issues in the longer term, reducing duplication and gaps and improving joint working
It’s time to undertake large-scale research with children and young people and their families – but we need you help to hear directly from them.
Could we work together on a borough-wide ‘research week in schools’ around the beginning of October?
Would secondary schools be willing for any Y10-13 students in their school who have signed up to the peer researcher programme to interview other students in the school during this week?
Would primary schools be willing for 18-25 year old peer researchers to visit their school for one or more days during this week, speaking with classes to undertake research, under the supervision of the class teacher?
LBH is working to recruit an organisation to lead the peer research – specialists in this area of work who will be commissioned to organise the activities, liaise with schools, provide any materials needed for research, and be available to troubleshoot should there be any issues – aim would be that there would be minimum impact on schools.

In 2021/22, and following the successful programme this year, all Primary members have the opportunity to sign up to join the new programme at no cost to schools. All subject network meetings will take place on the same day, via Zoom at 4-5:30pm.
Each subject will be led by a specialist within that subject, offering a perspective beyond Hounslow.
Session 1 – Tuesday 2nd November 2021
Session 2 – Thursday 17th March 2022
Session 3 – Tuesday 24th May 2022
Primary Middle Leaders Development Programme 2021/22

Take place over two terms across seven sessions
Involve participants attending a series of half-day and twilight sessions

The cost of this programme is £495 per middle leader delegate. Please note that there is no fee for the leadership coach.

On behalf of Bolder Academy
Employ a PE and school sports Apprentice for 2021-22
We are very pleased to share with you an exciting new partnership that has been created between Bolder Academy, Sporting Futures Training and Sport Impact to further develop opportunities for Ealing and Hounslow schools to employ a PE and school sport Apprentice for next academic year.
Following the confirmation of funding for the Primary PE and sport premium for the 2021-22 academic year and the carry forward of underspends from 2019/20 and 2021/21, there is a great opportunity for primary schools to utilise the funding to build capacity and provide additional support for the delivery of high quality PE, school sport and physical activity.
There are also currently incentives for Primary, Secondary and Special schools to recruit new employees as apprentices of up to £4k for 16-18 year olds and £3k for 19 years plus.
In addition to the Level 2 Community Activator and Level 3 Teaching Assistant with a PE focus Apprenticeships, there is also a new Level 4 Sports Coach in a School Setting Apprenticeship which is great as either a career pathway for apprentices or for existing staff who are delivering PE across the curriculum.
Once we have received your schools interest, we can signpost potential applicants to you and can place an advert on the 'Find an Apprentice' Government website. There is also a link below for potential apprentices to apply to be involved in the programme, in case the school know of suitable candidates that would fit the role eg: ex-students, children of current staff members etc.
