In this month’s newsletter: apples, toadstools, and some of my favorite things.
Fall will finally arrive in central Texas on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 2:21 p.m. As I do every year I will be sporting boots, clogs and cozy cardigans as if the air will automagically be cooler and smell like apple cider and wood smoke.

Fun Fact: The full Moon nearest to the equinox is called the Harvest Moon, and can occur either in September or October. This year, the Harvest Moon happens on Monday, September 20—just two days prior to the autumnal equinox.

How adorable are these toadstool wrist warmers by yarn dyer Kate Selene? You can order the kit here or download the pattern for free here and use up some sock yarn ends. This kit would make a great gift for a knitter friend. I am so going to knit up a pair (or two) this fall.

When not dying yarn or knitting Kate combs the English countryside looking for treasure with her metal detector and uploads entertaining videos to her YouTube channel.
Watching & Knitting

Longer nights means my list of shows to watch while knitting grows longer.

Lodge 49 (above) reminds me of Northern Exposure or Detectorists. The affable Sean "Dud" Dudley is adrift and looking to recover the happiness he recently lost after his father's death. He stumbles upon the Fraternal Order of the Lynx and is convinced that the lodge's alchemical lore is the key to happiness. The cast is wonderful, but it's Wyatt Russell (son of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn) who shines as the disarmingly optimistic Sean "Dud" Dudley. Full disclosure. I'd never heard of this show but liked the golden inflatable donut in it's promo so gave it a shot. Yeah, I am totally a book (or show) by its cover kinda gal. This show originally aired in 2018 on AMC. Watch both seasons on Hulu.

Reservation Dogs also has a Northern Exposure vibe to it. So much hype about this show right now. It really is all that and a bag of chips. Watch on Hulu.

Craft in America Watch all 12 seasons on PBS. Always inspiring and amazing.
My Favorite Things This Month

Old Navy stores are promoting Bodequality and realistic beauty standards and now carry all sizes at the same price. In case you’ve never had to buy a pair of plus size anything… the prices are normally $6-10 more than the “normal”sizes.

If historical fiction is your jam, and why wouldn't it be? You should listen to Crooked Media's podcast Edith. Rosamund Pike is a force to be reckoned with as America's first female president. Listen on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.

I am pretty sure I squealed out loud when I found this podcast of Orphan Black: The Next Chapter by Realm. If you mis the TV show you really should listen to this first season. Like me, you'll be hoping for another season. Listen on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcasts.

Tote bags are a touchy subject in our home. Mainly because I have a cotton tote with a WIP hanging from every door knob. I'm not kidding. Read about a solution that became a crisis.
