In this week’s newsletter: granny squares, rude saints, and a faint sign of Fall.

The sun is scorching the yard and my stripped down kitchen garden waits patiently for the right time for fall seedlings, but I can see a faint hint of Fall in the sunlight.

The past few weeks I've felt energetic, inspired, and present for the first time in weeks. I've sent off artwork for plates to be made for holiday letterpress cards and I can't wait to get inky again in my new office studio.

I hope that you too are hopeful and maybe more energetic as the light changes and the days get shorter day by day.

It's not sweater weather yet... but it's coming. It always does.

The First Rule of Collage Club is...

I recently discovered this Instagram account created by a very cool group of Collage-artists. All the artists use the same page from the same book and post their work every week.

My favorite things this week:
I'm currently watching and knitting to Secret City on the recommendation of a friend. Watch it on Netflix

Mr. Flood's Last Resort is quirky and charming, and has me laughing out loud. If odd characters, creaky old English mansions, and Irish Mysticism are your cup of tea I can't recommend this book more. Jess Kidd's writing is both snarky and magical.

It's a safe bet I'll be reading her other two novels, Himself and Things in Jars.
Pick up a copy at the library or your favorite local independent book store or order from Amazon or Powell's.

August 15th was Granny Square Day 2020. ICYMI... 7, 196 granny squares are available for your viewing pleasure here.

And while we're on the subject... ever wonder why they are called granny squares? Read this brief origin story here.
