AoCS July News Update 2021

Update on our change of status

Progress on moving towards a Company Limited by Guarantee is developing behind the scenes with the Transition Team, led by Chair Elect, Lorenza Clifford and Treasurer, Jenny Brown. They are taking advice from specialists to get the detail right, we are also researching ethical banks and insurers, and having conversations about roles with individual volunteers.

We will update you again as we make progress.

CLIMATE COACHING ALLIANCE
In March the CCA held a very interesting global event with workshops from around the world on climate, environment, earth, our planet, biodiversity, and sustainability. There were wonderful offerings and an attendance of 1000+.

For example, one of the participants, Andrew Gaines, has set up a Global Climate Summit entitled “Transitioning to a Life Affirming Global Culture”; see his website for further information.

The CCA need coaches to join this movement and bring climate conversations to our communities, clients and associates.

Many coaches are feeling unsure about how to introduce climate related topics to their clients even though they are part of their own values system and aspirations. Of course it is the choice of the client whether or not to engage in these conversations.

It can easily become part of the open contracting to share values, background and to sensitively drop the climate/sustainability agenda into our sessions where appropriate. We have set up a course to inspire courageous conversations for the sake of future generations. Coaches who are interested, can read more here on the Climate and Sustainability courses.

I do hope you will support, share and join the summit on 20th November 2021 and if you need further information on how to join this inspiring movement, do contact Jackie Arnold, our Chair.

ICF launch Community of Practice into Coach Supervision

See Nick Bolton's interesting video interview of AoCS members Kathryn Downing and Leen  Lambrechts-Noel with ICF's Director of Coaching Science, Joel DiGirolamo.

They discuss what the community of practice aims to achieve, their aspirations for supervision and the evolving relationship of the ICF to coaching supervision.

If successful this initiative could open the supervision door to many more ICF coaches interested in getting a supervisor - are you ready?

The next Co-Supervision Space session with Michelle Lucas and Yvette Elcock is on 3rd September 2021 from 13.00-15.00 BST. This session will concentrate on Systemic Approach. Come and take the opportunity to practice existing or new approaches to coaching supervision in a great learning community. Click here for tickets.

The next few dates remaining for 2021 are:

“As a New Zealander, I would love to adopt the spirit of the Maori term, ‘Hui' for the meeting of our community. For me, this means people coming together to listen and be heard, to share and understand, and to be open to new wisdom. Let’s come together in the spirit of community and celebrate the wisdom in our region.”

The Gathering will be over two days, each will include workshops and experiences for a wide professional community. There will be a range of topics suitable for experienced practitioners and those new to supervision. The link to book via Eventbrite will be coming soon; contact Sam Fremantle to register your interest.
