AoCS November News Update 2021

AoCS SPECIAL GATHERING

We would like to announce the Registration of Company Limited by Guarantee in the name of the Association of Coaching Supervisors Limited and our Articles are registered with Companies House. This means we are now in a position to draw together all the other key frameworks and aspects for the new format of AOCs including our new bank account.

Please watch this space, full details will be discussed at our Special Gathering on 7 December (see invitation below). We look forward to seeing you there.

We now have 3 directors on our Board: Lorenza Clifford, Jenny Brown and Jackie Arnold. We have recruited volunteers from our membership into lead roles for the major workstreams, some of them may go on to become board directors later.

We still have vacancies for more Regional Co-ordinators and, although Paula Wilson has been doing fabulous work for us as interim, we are still seeking a Global Volunteer Facilitator to help us write our Volunteers Charter, join everything up and enable people to feel fully involved, working with the Communications and Marketing Lead, alongside our new Membership and Growth Lead, to broadcast all the amazing work in progress.

While our new board is currently UK based, that may not be the case in the future, and our wider Leadership team incorporates members from Singapore, Qatar, US and Ireland. We encourage all our global members to get involved in volunteering small amounts of time: we have found it enhances our enjoyment of our community, and our knowledge of what resources, events and conversations are available to support our work. We hope you will find the same, too.

Special Gathering Invitation: come and hear what the Transition Team have accomplished so far and how you can get involved. Please bring with you a colourful object, item of clothing or a zoom background that represents your region, we would like to take a snapshot of this moment in AoCS’ history!
Please contact Jenny or Lorenza and tell us how you would like to get involved!

REFLECTION SPACE FOR COACHING SUPERVISORS ON D&I
 26th November 2021 (noon GMT/ 8pm SGT)

Intent: As supervisors, we recognise that the 'work' happens in a conversation where we build learning, shift awareness and energy. AoCS is passionate about promoting Diversity and Inclusion in our profession and beyond. We endeavour to co-create a safe space for honest and open reflections about this important and heart-nuanced topic. The hope is that conversations within this container will ripple out to the systems to which we are all connected.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step (千里之行,始于足下)- Lao Tzu.

Session Focus: Reflecting on our coaching industry, how might we be promoting exclusivity? Where is the opportunity to pivot towards more inclusivity. If you know of other voices we can invite into this conversation to help us all learn, please forward this invitation to them too.

Session Agenda:
  • Welcome and check-in
  • Agree on topics to reflect on
  • Reflection circle (break-outs)
  • Reflect summaries in plenary
