This year was a huge experiment in expanding the MIPSTERZ universe and we want to thank everyone who volunteered, donated, attended a show, and most of all, created and contributed to our original projects. We are here as long as y'all want to keep making cool stuff together!

Kameelah Janan Rasheed's Installation on display at the Brooklyn Historical Society
Almost 2 years ago, Zaheer Ali launched the "Muslims in Brooklyn" at the Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS). The goal was to make a multi-year, public arts and history project to amplify stories of Brooklyn’s diverse Muslim communities. Since then, they have held everything from listening parties to panels dissecting the soul of hip-hop to live musical performances that celebrate the rich history contained in the newly created, free archive that you should totally dig through right now–there are 50 histories and counting. Per Zaheer, these histories should be taken as indicative more than representative of our community. The centerpiece of the project is an art and sound installation by Kameelah Janan Rasheed now on display at the BHS building until June 30, 2020. Stop by 128 Pierrepont St next time you're in Brooklyn to see it!
Thanks for reading and give us a shout if you wanna jam sometime!

Love,
Yusuf
