Track Club
Track club will resume on February 1, 2019.

Kroger Community Rewards
Give a gift to Ditto this holiday season!  If you shop at Kroger and use your Kroger Plus card (or phone number), please take a moment to connect your Kroger Plus account/card to Ditto Elementary and encourage your family and friends to do so, as well. Kroger will donate a percentage of all purchases to Ditto every time you shop and send a check to Ditto PTA every 3 months. It's the gift that keeps on giving and is very easy to do:

1. Visit
http://www.kroger.com and log into your account.
2.  Under the "Savings and Rewards" drop down menu, select Kroger Community Rewards.
3. Scroll down to I'm a customer. Want to enroll in Community Rewards? and click view details
4. On this page you can search for the organization and add "Ditto Elementary PTA".

You will remain enrolled until August 2019 and earn money each time you shop. Please take advantage of this easy way to earn money for our school.

Box Tops
Keep collecting those Box Tops! All Box Tops turned in to the box on the Ditto cafeteria stage between now and December 19th will count toward the 3rd six weeks contest. Collecting tip--ask grandparents, aunts/uncles, and other family members to collect Box Tops for you, picking them up from them when you see them during the holidays.

Reminders for collecting:
*Please do not use staples. Use glue or tape to attach Box Tops to collection pages.
*Check expiration date because expired Box Tops do not count
*Please trim into neat rectangles if possible, but be careful clipping so that you don't cut the expiration date or the BOLD letters in the upper left hand corner of the Box Top.
*You can put up to 50 Box Tops in one zip lock bag (label with student name/grade/teacher/# of Box Tops
) or use the sheets provided to collect 25 per page. Extra collection pages available on the cafeteria stage or at https://www.boxtops4education.com/about/collection-sheets
*Make SURE your student info (name/grade/teacher) is on the sheet or written on (or on a note inside) the ziploc bag if they wish to be considered for prizes!

Feel free to email
Laura.Farnell@gmail.com or sarahchaplinwalters@hotmail.com with questions or concerns about the Ditto PTA Box Tops program.

It has been a great first semester! Your student should be coming home with a list of supplies they need to be replenished/replaced for the new semester. Thank you for your help with this! Tuesday, we will be going to the Sing-Along at 8:35. We will also have our Holiday Party from 1:30 - 2:30. We hope everyone has a great break!

We have sent home the CA scores to-date in Reading, Writing, Math and Science.  The best way to interpret these scores is to look for an upward trend.  As the year continues and concepts are introduced and retaught, our students should see gradual improvement on their scores.

We are all looking forward to a nice break to kick off our shoes, relax, and share time with family.  Best wishes from Fourth Grade!
Science  - Water Cycle and Climate vs Weather

S.S  - Colonial Williamsburg

Math - Ordered pairs and Graphing patterns. Reading and interpreting bar graphs.

Reading - Nonfiction text

Writing  - Focus on elaboration and details in writing samples

A few stocking stuffer ideas:  map pencils, black pens, glue sticks, scissors, crayola markers, map pencils, eraser tops, ear buds, and a hand help pencil sharpener.

We are still collecting donations for the Arlington Animal Shelter.  Your child will receive tickets for each item they bring.

Upcoming Events:
December 17th - Solar System projects are due  to your child's science teacher.
December 18th  - Class party 2:45 - 3:30, $1 for wear a hat day, and Christmas Sing- A-long
December 19th  - All grades are due and finalized

Updates after the break!

6th grade parents-

The state of Texas has specific immunization requirements for students entering 7th grade.  These requirements are:

  1.  Tdap – booster if 5 years have passed since the last dose of a tetanus containing vaccine
  2. Meningococcal – 1 dose.  This shot must be given after the 11th birthday, and the record must indicate MCV4, Menactra, Menveo, or MENACWY.
Let me know if you have any questions!

HOUR OF CODE
I will be hosting/teaching "Hour of Code" in our library classes during the lesson time during December in grades 2-6.  The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching over 100 million students in more than 180 countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event.
The students will be guided through at least 2 choices to explore during our lesson time.  I am extremely excited about sharing and guiding our students through this exciting part of technology!!

Arlington Public Library     http://arlingtonlibrary.org
has many great services besides checking out books.  Have YOU visited an Arlington Public Library recently?

The Battle of the Books is a district-wide 4th and 5th grade reading program sponsored by the Arlington ISD school librarians.  The students read 8 specific books during the fall and then take a test January 15 or 16 to determine which students will represent Ditto at the March 23rd (tentative date) district-wide competition.  4 representatives and 3 alternates from each grade level will be coached with Mrs. Murrow before the competition to “prepare for battle!”  A letter with more information went home recently.  The test to determine who are representatives and alternates is going to be administered in early January.  More info to follow.

Ditto would love to have as MANY STUDENTS as possible participate in this exciting competition!  Is YOUR child going to be one of our contenders in the spring?  Bring on the Battle!
