March 2023

Meet Victor Sirin!

I'm excited to announce that Book Two of my new graphic-novel trilogy Monte Cristo arrives in bookstores in France tomorrow, March 22. You can read my blog post about it here, and download a free PDF of the first ten pages of both Books One and Two (in French or English).

Illustrator Mario Alberti has done incredible work bringing the world and characters of our modern Monte Cristo to life. In Book Two, the stakes rise and suspense mounts when Sam Castillo returns as mega-billionaire Victor Sirin to unfold ice-cold revenge on those who wronged him. I can't wait for graphic novel fans to enjoy the turns this story takes in Book Two. French readers have a treat in store.

For those wishing for a signed copy, I've made a special arrangement with my local comics bookshop, Azimuts. You can order Monte Cristo Books One and Two from them online, let the owner Christophe know you’d like yours signed, and I’ll be happy to oblige. They ship within Europe. (If you order before April 1, both Mario and I can sign it -- we'll be together in Montpellier that week, working on Book Three).

And if you'd like to take Sam/Victor with you right now, there's a free downloadable Monte Cristo mobile wallpaper pack in the Library.

A Dagger of Time for my next art print

Thanks to everyone who bought a print of my first two Prince of Persia-inspired game tribute artworks. It's made me very happy this month to see your posts and photos of "A Faithful Friend" and "Bones" arriving in their new homes around the world.

With so much love for POP, I couldn't not draw another artwork in the series. My next one is called "Dagger" and will be released on Tuesday, April 4, at 12pm New York time (6pm in France).

I'll post details and the link to purchase in "Latest News" and via the site's RSS feed. The first two limited editions of 40 sold out quickly ("Bones" in less than three hours). I've heard from many people who would have liked to own a print and were sorry to miss out, so I want my newsletter subscribers to have advance notice of this next release.

The Last Express Journals

For those who've read my published journals and wondered what happened after The Making of Prince of Persia (the book ends in January 1993, with Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame still in development, and The Last Express just getting started): I've created a website page to hold the continuation of the 1993 journals: The Making of POP 2 and The Last Express.

I'll continue adding a new batch of journal entries for "30 years ago this week" every Wednesday. It took the team four years to ship The Last Express, so there should be plenty of material to see us all through 2026.

Coming in April

Next month's newsletter will bring a very special announcement. It's a project I've been hard at work on behind the scenes for the last two years, and I can almost guarantee it will be a great original surprise. Look for it in your inbox around this time in April. My blog post will be in the RSS feed as well.

Hope to see you then! Meanwhile, I hope you'll enjoy "Dagger," the old journals, and the new Monte Cristo!

If you know someone who may also enjoy this newsletter, please feel free to forward it to them. Thanks!
