Escape the stresses of university and join us for a relaxing and inspiring retreat especially for Progressive Jewish Students.

Reconnect Retreat gives you the chance to come together with friends for a weekend of self-discovery, with the goal to restore and develop the elements of yourself that often become lost or pushed to the side over the academic year.

The weekend will embrace Progressive Jewish learning and prayer, community and empowerment. Highlights include a warm and musical Kabbalat Shabbat, inspiring teaching, and of course a chance to just relax and have fun. Attend with your friends, or come along to meet new people!

The weekend will be led by PJS fieldworkers Maya Skaarbrevik ( and Fran Kurlansky (fran@pjsuk.or) and chaplain Rabbi Daniel Lichman (

The retreat is being held from Friday afternoon of the 22nd - Sunday Midday 24th March, in the Peak district. (Nearest train station being Grindleford).

The cost for the retreat is £50. This does not include travel to the site. Financial assistance is available and should not be a barrier to your attendance! Get in touch with Maya Skaarbrevik for any more information.

But don't just take our word for it - Listen to what our past participants have had to say!:

Ilana - 22 "When I arrived at Reconnect, I made new and fast friends. I explored how to define our twenty first century connection to Judaism, new methods of prayer and community organizing, and what it’s like to be vulnerable about something as personal as faith. I found spirituality by hiking in the moorland and having conversations on a kitchen floor at three in the morning about belonging. I met someone with whom I later traveled and someone else who would be gracious enough to include me at her family’s Passover Seder."

Maya, 23 - “The atmosphere was amazing and helped to make us feel so at home, to be ourselves, to open up, relax, and to have one of those moments you feel like you really grow and make big steps with important questions. I loved the feeling of being understood and being able to discuss and express not only aspects of Judaism which I’ve struggled with, but also general life experiences”

Esther, 23 - “I had very few expectations for the weekend – positive or negative…. I did not expect to form such deep connections with others and to enter into a space of vulnerability and spirituality but I’m very glad that happened”
