In the interest of protecting the development of Pittsburgh’s children, note that the very latest study in Environment International found that fine particles (emitted as black carbon by diesel locomotives and known as PM2.5) alters the size of a child’s developing brain.  These changes may ultimately increase their risk for cognitive and emotional problems later in adolescence.  In addition, PM2.5 is a cancer-causing Group 1 carcinogen that also causes myriad respiratory diseases.  Watch this short video to learn more.  Then go to our website to take action!
