To mark 2020 International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we officially launch our new FGM media campaigns, in Guinea and Ethiopia.

Working with PlanUNFPA and others we celebrate the Global Media Campaign's 7th birthday by launching our media campaigns in two new countries.
Watch the film below for the Global Media Campaign story so far.
How the Global Media Campaign spread to nine countries
The Global Media Campaign now works with over 66 religious leaders, 122 journalists & 187 activists across 9 countries amplifying,  anti-FGM groundwork by NGOs and activists
week in, week out.
So here's how it works  -  Take Mali for example:
In 2019 our media graduates and religious leaders in Mali amplifiedFGM groundwork with over 120 hours of anti-FGM media. This ranged from hour-long talk shows, to radio and TV debates, call-in shows and TV ads.

We achieved over 30 million listens and views in 2019. People received the same anti-FGM message again and again, and, crucially, not just in French, the official language, but in Bambara, the language of the people!
Watch the film below to see some of the work that's been done.

So how do we track how media messaging works and changes behaviour?
We spent 2 years measuring the long-term impact of our media work in Tana River, Kenya.
