Are you desiring to encounter the Holy Spirit?  Do you want to enter God's word?
Retreats give us a unique opportunity to concentrate on prayer more than we do in everyday life. Prayer on a retreat will include times of individual meditation, Eucharistic Adoration, worship through the sacraments and liturgy, and reflection on God's word in Sacred Scripture. All this combines with the silence for a deeper prayer experience because we’ve removed ourselves from our day-to-day busyness and distraction and can be open to listening to the movement of the Holy Spirit.
Retreats to Know how the Holy Spirit is Working
Directed Silent Retreat with Fr. Christopher Barak and Fr. Gary Coulter
Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2019
3 or 4-Day Retreat according to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola
This is not our typical retreat!
All retreats at our Retreat House are silent, but our typical weekend retreats are preached. The Ignatian retreat is different as it is marked by complete silence.  Rather than listening to talks, the retreatants enters into times of prayer with the Lord, then meet individually with a priest for spiritual direction and guidance in prayer each day.
Fr. Christopher Barak, director of the St. John Paul II House, invites "anyone seeking a deep encounter with God.  By entering into His word in the Scriptures and the silence, one experiences the presence of God and enters an intimate conversation with Him."
Fr. Gary Coulter, director of Good Counsel Retreat House, says “This retreat will be an opportunity to meditate on the different events of the life of Christ, accompanying Jesus from his birth and infancy, through his public ministry, and particularly to experience his passion and resurrection.”
To learn more about the way of praying taught by St Igantius, the book Meditation and Contemplation by Fr. Timothy Gallagher is recommended.

"Work of the Holy Angels" Retreat with Opus Sanctorum Angelorum
Sept. 5-8, 2019
Opus Sanctorum Angelorum, the Work of the Holy Angels, is an international movement within the Catholic Church.  Its mission is to spread devotion to and conscious collaboration with the holy angels, so that they may lead us more effectively to God.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love commits me here. Ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
This simple prayer most of us learned as children brings out important truths about how God in His love uses the holy angels to lead us in this life and gives us a guardian angel to guide us in the spiritual battle.
The Catechism teaches, "From its beginning until death, human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession.  Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life" (CCC 336).
This four-day retreat is for all who want to grow spiritually and will teach on living in communion with the holy angels and how their ministry helps us to grow towards union with God.
