Fr. Adam Sughroue invites you to examine how ever since the first temptation and sin with Adam and Eve, the "father of lies" (John 8:44) has not changed his tactics.  The evil one still tries to deceive us with his empty words and false promises, trying to keep us ignorant and wounded, especially by sowing seeds of doubt about God's love and care for us.  "All subsequent sin would be disobedience toward God and lack of trust in his goodness." (Catechism of the Catholic Church 397)

Fr. Sughroue says, "this topic has helped me spiritually, as the devil lies to all of us and we cannot grow if we're falling into a false narrative. Therefore, we need to bring God into that false narrative which will bring healing and allow spiritual growth."
Fr. Sughroue recommends this retreat particularly for "anyone has experienced a roadblock in spiritual growth or anyone who wants truth and healing in their lives."  To learn more on the subject, Fr. Sughroue suggests the book The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis and has learned from the podcast: The Place We Find Ourselves by therapist Adam Young.

Ordained in 2011, Fr. Adam Sughroue’s parish assignments have included St. John in Lincoln, St. Cecilia in Hastings, and currently St. Ann, Doniphan and Sacred Heart, Kenesaw.  He has also enjoyed being a teacher throughout his priesthood, first at Pius X High School in Lincoln, and now at Hastings Catholic Schools.
