An increase in biodiversity across the conurbation

Green spaces across our conurbation are benefitting from an increase in biodiversity due to the change in grass management. 

Bee Orchids which had previously been lying dormant for years, have now been spotted in Christchurch and across Poole, while the Pyramidal Orchid has also been seen in various locations.

Heath Week: 24 - 30 July 2021

We're part of the Urban Heaths Partnership, 10 organisations working together to protect and enhance Dorset heathlands.

We've planned a week of activities as part of Heath Week, to celebrate our amazing heathlands including a Nightjar experience and a guided wildlife walk, or you can meet our wardens and find out what they do to protect our precious heathlands.

The Nursery has currently got a bedding sale on, with bedding packs reduced for the next week, while stocks last.

Entries are now open for Poole in Bloom 2021. This competition seeks to celebrate all the hard work that local community groups, businesses, and households put in to make Poole a beautiful place to live.

Live action with a nesting Little Egret!

The Parks Foundation are excited to be streaming a nesting Little Egret on their wildlife cameras at Hengistbury Head. 

The Little Egret is a small white heron with attractive white plumes on its chest. Two eggs have just hatched with the third expected to take place any day now.
