Learn-Explore-Debate
The Learn – Explore – Debate events, hosted by Foundation Years in March, which focused on the revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) had sessions on reducing unnecessary workload and self-regulation in the early years.

There are two groups of video clips:
  • Session 1: Reducing workload: data, tracking and assessment has two very helpful videos: Phil Minns from Ofsted and Julian Grenier outlining the changes and especially what we need to cover in our planning of the curriculum to support the children recovering from pandemic restrictions – Laurence’s story is inspiring!
  • Session 2: Self-regulation in the early years
The recordings and case studies from the events can be found in the link below.

EYFS reforms myth-buster
Ofsted are often asked lots of questions and encounter many myths about the Education Inspection Framework (EIF) inspections. Currently they are being asked about the revised EYFS framework from 1 September 2021.

In this guidance below they have answered the most frequently asked questions on both the EYFS and inspection practice. However, they encourage people to get in touch if they come across other frequent misunderstandings.

Countdown to school or nursery from the National Literacy Trust “Words for Life”
Are you a term time only provider or do you have children that only attend during term time?

We have something you can share with your parents and carers before the beginning of term to help them get off to a flying start!
The National Literacy Trust's “Words for Life” have developed a handy seven day countdown of short activities that parents and carers can do with their children to help them get ready for their return to an early years setting, which although exciting, can also be an anxious time for children.

Early Years Foundation Training for Safeguarding Children
The new virtual Foundation Training for Safeguarding Children in autumn is now live on CPD. We have adopted a blended approach to enhance this virtual experience.
As well as attending the course, learners are now required to complete pre-course reading and preparation tasks that will take approximately 1.5 hours. To reflect this commitment, we have also adjusted the duration of the virtual delivery and made the sessions shorter. Places are limited, so please book early in the usual way via CPD Online.
