23 Green Flags awarded to our parks and open spaces

Once again our outstanding parks and open spaces have received recognition in the prestigious Green Flag Awards with 23 Green Flags awarded across the conurbation.

For the first time Poole Park has also achieved the much-coveted Green Heritage Site Accreditation for its management of the historic features, in addition to Hengistbury Head.

Using nature to combat climate change

This autumn the Stour Valley Park Partnership is hosting free online talks with experts helping us understand the different methods that can be used to improve the natural environment and combat climate change.

On 3 November, find out what beavers can offer our waterways and landscapes, while on 17 November, you can hear how plants and biological systems can be used to clean our waterways.

Mini golf offer for the little ones

Kids can enjoy unlimited games of classic mini golf, a slushie and hot dog for just £6.95 over the half term holidays in Bournemouth's Lower Gardens and Boscombe's Squirrel Cafe Mini Golf.

It's a great way to keep them entertained for an hour or two - and they might even get a hole in one!

Half term activities at Highcliffe Castle

If you're looking for a greener way to decorate your home this Halloween, then why not visit Kings Park Nursery who have planted up these wickedly bright pots!

The Nursery closes in November so make sure you buy all your garden essentials before then!

Free fitness sessions in Poole Park
If you want to improve your fitness levels but are unsure how to start, then we've got the ideal opportunity for you.

We're offering free outdoor training sessions on the outdoor gym equipment in Poole Park on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons between 1.05-1.50pm, and Saturday mornings between 10.05-10.50am. Come and join our expert-led sessions for a fun and unique workout!

Family activities with the Parks Foundation
On 25 and 30 October, bring an empty jam jar to Shelley Park, Boscombe and transform it into a something beautiful to take home.

Artist Jo Malyon will be on hand with some sparkly suggestions and materials to help you create a magic lantern that lights up the Autumn evenings! 
At Winton Recreation Ground (23 Oct), Waterman's Park (27 Oct), and Alexandra Park (30 Oct) you can join in with some bulb planting ahead of the first frost then see your handiwork when the bulbs flower next Spring.

Spooky fun for the whole family

If you're looking for some spooky fun for the whole family, visit the Kingfisher Barn at the Stour Valley Nature Reserve from 23 - 31 October and take part in their scary halloween trail. It's £3 for a trail sheet with no pre-booking required.

On 30 - 31 October, Upton Country Park is running a Creepy Creatures Halloween Hunt. Simply pick up a trail sheet from the Tea Rooms between 10am - 3pm, then head out into the Country Park to find the pumpkins and find out what creepy creatures are lurking there. Or why not try your hand at making a spooky spider's web at the activity area on 31 October. It's £2 for a drop-in session with no pre-booking required.

There's something for everyone this half term - so enjoy all the frightening fun but please check each activity individually before you visit incase of any changes.

It's never too early to start thinking about Christmas and our Park Cafe's are offering a Christmas catch-up at 2019 prices!

Enjoy mouthwatering meals with friends and family and you can even get a complimentary 'Park Cafés signature cocktail' on arrival when you show your BCP council tax bill on a Festive Friday!
