Dear Margaret

Dear Margaret whimsical green floral graphic. Reads: Dear Margaret, How can we all participate in feminism, even if we're not from larger communities where organizing and protesting happens? Anonymous. Dear Anonymous, It's important to remember feminism is for everyone. Even when you feel your actions aren't "large enough" to make a difference, there are always steps you can take to support an equitable, feminist future. One of the most important feminist actions you can take is educating yourself in order to gain a better perspective on intersectional, feminist issues. This can be as simple as reading works by feminist authors like bell hooks, or enrolling in women's and genders studies classes here at Iowa State. Another feminist effort you can explore is supporting existing entrepreneurial women, especially BIPOC and trans women. Contributing to the growth of a woman putting their dreams in motion is a great way to advocate for change. You can take these steps by following and sharing Black female and non-binary creator's social media pages, or buying from small businesses created by trans women, or any women at all. You can also advocate in your local community, no matter how small! Whether you're volunteering at your city's Planned Parenthood, or reposting petitions on social media, contributing the time and voice you have to feminism is as important as participating in any march or organization. No matter what actions you're taking, remember there's no such thing as a step too small. It's easy to get intimidated by a mission that feels so large, but it's important to have faith in ourselves, and our communities to create a brighter future. With love and care, Margaret.
