Collegiate Recovery Cookout
To celebrate National Collegiate Recovery Day, the university is hosting a cookout on Friday, April 15th at Brookside Park - Maple Shelter from 3 pm – 6pm. Any student, faculty, staff, or community member is welcome and there will be free food and games. Email Student Wellness' Health Promotion Coordinator Ryan Doyle at rdoyle@iastate.edu if you have any food restrictions.
GEI Discussion
GEI: Discussion on Gender and Sexuality in Horror is a special book discussion for the Spring 2022 semester. A virtual book discussion will be held on Wednesday, April 20 at 6pmcentral with Hailey Piper discussing her writing style, how she discusses gender and sexuality in horror, the creation of LGBTQIA+ themes and characters, and how she's working to make horror "Gay AF." Link for the discussion will be available on April 20th.
Hailey Piper is the author of The Worm and His Kings, Queen of Teeth, Unfortunate Elements of My Anatomy, and Benny Rose the Cannibal King. She is an active member of the HWA, with over seventy short stories appearing in various podcasts, websites, magazines, and anthologies. Spring Drag Show
Student Union Board, The Pride Alliance, and DubH are hosting the Spring Drag Show at the Maintenance Shop on Friday, April 22 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Maintenance Shop Box Office, by phone at 515-294-8349, or on midwestix.com.

Feminist Friday
The last installment of Feminist Friday for the Spring 2022 semester is themed "Community of One." On Friday, April 22 at 1 pm, a panel of LGBTQ+ and BIPOC students and professors will be discussing their experiences expressing their identities at a predominantly-white institution.
Zoom link will be available on the Sloss website the morning of the panel!
Art and Creativity for Healing
The next Art + Creativity for Healing event will be held Wednesday, April 27th at 5 pm at the Sloss House. Sloss' art expert Nancy Gebhart will lead the space in creating nature portraits as a form of personal growth and healing. For the health and safety of attendees, the event is limited to 10 participants. Register here!
Art + Creativity for Healing seeks to build an environment that connects creative exercises with community building in support of healing. Make, share, talk, listen, release, build, together. Supplies and art guidance will be provided. This collective creative space is open to everyone.
Womentorship Series
The Womentorship Series is back and hosting the next event of the series: Womxn of Colour in Business! Join the series on Friday, April 29 at 2:30 via Zoom. Register in advance to get the link.
This event is for any student who is a womxn-identifying student of colour, no matter your major or career outlook. Akwi Nji will present an inspiring webinar talk to help you perfect your professional profile!
QTPoC Monthly Dinner
Every last Friday of the month, QTPoC hosts a dinner for the queer and trans people of color in Iowa State's community. These monthly meals center the intersection of LGBTQIA+ and racial identities and bring QTPoC together to build community. The next dinner will be hosted on April 29th!
Iowa State Student Counseling Services is hosting a Suicide Awareness Walk on Saturday, April 30 starting at the South Campanile Lawn. Check-in is at 9:30 am.
The Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity would like to recognize the accomplishments of womxn of colour who will be graduating from Iowa State in spring, summer, and fall 2022. The womxn of colour in our community will be celebrated at a reception at the Sloss House on Thursday, May 5 from 1-4 pm.
Pride Goes Greek is an Iowa State sorority and Fraternity affiliated organization for LGBTQIA+ students and allies in Greek Life. If you're not a member but are curious about what sororities or fraternities have to offer, Pride Goes Greek can help, too! Past events have included Jackbox game nights and picnics; this semester, PGG is hosting movie nights, volunteer projects, and more!
