A day of marches around the world is being organised by Laudato Si' Generation, the youth branch of the Global Catholic Climate Movement. This year has been an extraordinary one for marches. Here in Brussels, there have been marches of up to 70,000 people. Editorial

The Common Good of the Seas
         Copenhagen, May 4-5 

In Copenhagen on the weekend of 3-5 May, the European Justice and Peace Commission organised a conference on the oceans. Eco-Bites Editor, Edmond Grace, reports how the subject of this conference was as much about shipping and human behaviour as about the oceans.

Recently elected, President Bolsonaro is not getting it all his own way in his efforts to 'open up' the Amazon to industrial farming.

Having been rebuffed by Parliament, he's been cultivating allies among indigenous groups. Conflicts are seldom straightforward.

Updates from the HEST ecology cluster

Since our meeting in Brussels last November, the HEST Ecology has had three webinars: on the 25th of January, the 20th March and the 15th May. Discussions were lively and the development of the projects is on the right track.

Laudato Si' Reflection day

A second Laudato Si' Reflection day is being organised by COMECE, the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union. The event will take place in the COMECE headquarters in Brussels on the 12th of June.

A Jesuit delegation for STGs

A Jesuit and Christian Life Community Delegation has been invited to a meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals watchdog body, called the High-Level Political Forum. This year the theme is: "Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality".
