The Synod gives us cause to celebrate, but the challenge ahead is both more complex and closer to home. Reports of police brutality in France and of violent clashes between climate protesters and commuters in Britain are ominous.

Protest is an essential and effective part of the climate action movement. Discipline is needed to remain peaceful. Strategy is needed when police and other citizens turn violent. See editorial above.
