   Spring 2020 Suspension Policy

Due to COVID-19, no currently enrolled undergraduate student will be suspended at the conclusion of the Spring or Summer 2020 sessions. Students with a cumulative GPA below 2.0 at the end of Spring 2020 should contact their advisor to make a plan to get off probation.

         Summer Classes Online

Due to the ongoing public health concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, Radford University will transition all Summer Session course offerings to a fully online delivery. Courses currently listed as on-campus will be updated to online. All registration related questions should be directed to the Registrar’s Office by email or calling (540) 831-5271.

Students will be able to rent or purchase e-books through the Bookstore website. If your student would prefer a physical book and one is not listed on the website, please email us

Radford University Bookstore: Returning Rental Textbooks

The health and well being of our students and employees is incredibly important to us. Due to the move towards online classes on many campuses, we want to reassure our rental customers that we are here to support you. If your student is not on campus and has rented textbooks, they can be returned free by shipping back via UPS. Click here to create your pre-paid shipping label.

You will need your student's order number to print the UPS shipping label. This can be found in the confirmation email from the online order. If your student rented textbooks in store, it can be found in any of their rental reminder emails. The UPS label can be printed on or before your charge date. In this unprecedented time, we have extended the rental due date to June 15, 2020; no charges will occur until the first week of class for the Fall semester. If you have any questions or concerns, please email the bookstore.

Office of the Bursar: Fall Payment Plans

Enrollment for our Fall 2020 Payment Plan begins on May 1, 2020. In order to enroll, please follow these steps:
  • Have your student log into their MyRU Portal
  • Click the Finances icon
  • In the Office of the Bursar box, click on set up payment plan
  • You will be directed to QuikPAY where you will click on Payment Plan on the left side of the page and follow the website's instructions

A Letter from the Vice President for Student Affairs: Dr. Susan Trageser

When this academic year started, I do not think any of us anticipated it would end with a global pandemic and students being away from campus. While I recognize these unprecedented times have impacted students and you, their families, in many ways, the one thing that remains unchanged is all that has been accomplished this year. The community and connections your students have built, both in and out of the classroom, continue to thrive.

Over the year, there has been leadership programming, speakers on a myriad of topics, cultural and recreational excursions, wellness activities and much more. With the exception of excursions, these opportunities have continued virtually, including the Traditions Week celebrations of Halfway There for sophomores, Junior Twilight: It’s Your Time and Senior Signing.

I have enjoyed meeting and getting to know your students over the year and staying in touch with them by phone and email more recently. It is a privilege to be part of their journey; see the learning firsthand, watch passions develop and paths change direction. It has not all been easy. There have been challenges, but with hard work there have been many successes. These relationships and the work together, along with your partnership, is what makes Radford University a truly special place.

Our students and their experience are at the core of decision-making. Based upon information available at this time, it is our intent to re-open campus for the fall semester with appropriate safety measures in place. The University is working to develop plans and procedures with guidance from the Virginia Department of Health and Commonwealth of Virginia.

It is an honor to support your student. Thank you for being a member of the Radford University Family and allowing us to be part of yours.

- Dr. Susan Trageser, Vice President for Student Affairs

Spring 2020 Graduates: Commencement & Regalia Information

Students scheduled to graduate in May or August 2020 are invited to return to campus to participate in the December Commencement Ceremony.  The registrar’s office will email these students soon to request up-to-date contact information so they can be in touch when more details are available. Encourage your student to continue to monitor their Radford University email account, even after the final day of classes.

Even though your student's commencement ceremony has been postponed until December, you can still purchase their graduation cap and gown online. We also have a selection of stoles for purchase, including the first generation stole for those who are the first in their family to graduate from college. Legacy stoles are available through Alumni Relations.  A Legacy is a student who has a family member who previously graduated from Radford University. Class rings and graduation announcements can be purchased here. Lastly, for Alumni gear, diploma frames and great graduation gifts, be sure to visit the bookstore website

Financial Aid: Summer Aid Submission

Is your student taking summer classes at Radford? If your student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, they can complete the Summer Financial Aid application inside the MyRU portal. We encourage all students who are taking summer classes to submit an application so we can share more information about their aid eligibility. If you have any questions, Financial Aid can be reached at 540-831-5408 or by email.

2020 - 2021 Financial Aid Processing

If your student is in their first year at Radford University, financial aid processing looks a little different than it did last year! It is important to make sure your student has filed the FAFSA for 2020-2021 so we can determine your student’s eligibility. For current students, we will start the process of awarding Financial Aid for the 2020-2021 school year at the end of Spring semester. Please make sure if your student has not completed their FAFSA or turned in verification documents that they do so as soon as possible.

Student Perspective: Sam's Story

Samantha Granzetto, a graduating senior, reflects on her time at Radford University and looks ahead to her future.

Radford University has done so much for me; I don’t think it's possible to express everything it has given me in a single paragraph. The students, professors, and faculty here have helped me find who I am and helped me to reach my full potential. Coming into college, I was a shy girl from New Jersey who was terrified to come out of my shell. Now, four years later, I have found who I am and know who I want to be. I would have never come across my passion of working in higher education if it weren’t for the multitude of opportunities I have been given here. I have created so many memories and made such amazing relationships here that I hope to one day work at Radford University so I can give back to the next generation of students. Although I won’t be able to walk across the stage for graduation in May, I am proud of my accomplishments and who I have become. No matter what, I will always be a Highlander.
