  • When you are moving in, face masks will be required in all building common areas.
  • Your student may have no more than two people help them inside the building.
  • Make sure your student brings their ONE Card photo ID to check in! We are excited to have you with us, but we have to verify your student's identity with a photo ID before we can issue them their key.
  • Once the school year starts, there is a 2 week freeze on all room changes; if your student is interested in seeking a room change after that two week freeze, they can speak with their Resident Assistant (RA) about the process.
  • Due to the current COVID-19 situation, no guests will be permitted in University Operated Housing during the Fall 2020 semester.

Office of the Bursar: Radford Refunds

If your student is expecting a financial aid refund for the upcoming semester, they should consider enrolling in Direct Deposit with the Office of the Bursar. Refunds sent in this manner are more secure and received faster than by mail. Some recipients see their funds deposited as early as the first week of school, while mailed refunds could take up to ten business days for delivery.

In order to enroll, students will need their financial institution’s routing and account number. The Direct Deposit enrollment form is located in the Radford portal on the Office of the Bursar’s Finances section. Once received and processed, students will receive an e-mail confirmation.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Office of the Bursar at (540) 831-5417 or by email

Student Perspective: Colleen's Story

Colleen McNickle, a spring 2020 graduate and incoming graduate student, reflects on her undergraduate experience at Radford University and the opportunities it gave her.

Arriving on campus in 2016, I was excited for a new start, but also nervous to jump into a life away from home. I am from Loudoun County, Virginia, a very metropolitan area. Coming to the mountains was a big culture shock! I am also a homebody; I had never even been to sleep-away camp, and here I was moving into a new place on my own.

Luckily, Radford was the perfect place for me. I found friends in my residence hall and we all went to club fair together. I participated in the Student Council Association in high school, so I thought the Student Government Association was a good place to start. Joining SGA was the best decision I made here at Radford. I was in it throughout my four years here, most recently as Student Body President. Joining one organization gave me the confidence to join others: I became a Highlander Guide, University 100 and 150 Peer Instructor, Quest Assistant, and much more.

I love Radford University so much that I decided to stay and get my Master’s Degree in Strategic Communication. If you had told me four years ago I would not only willingly, but excitedly, stay in Radford for two more years, I would have thought you were crazy. Now, Radford is my home. I live here full time, and I can’t imagine my life at any other school. I am jealous of all the new students who get to start their journey this month because there is nothing like your first year of college. I cannot wait to see what your student will accomplish in their time here at Radford!
