Greetings from Weymouth Center!
This old house is getting much needed care and repair.
Thanks to a grant from RJ Reynolds Foundation, the shutter installation is nearly finished and looks fantastic! The color is a very deep green (not black). The installation has gone smoothly thanks to the Malones, who have been so generous with their time and talent.
In additon to the shutters, the Writer's Porch was in need of a lot of TLC. Work on repairing the roof has begun thanks again to RJ Reynolds Foundation and Weymouth member and board member, Barbara Keating.
L-R: Ashley Van Camp, Barbara Keating, Frank Pierce, Nancy Rawlinson.
Frank Pierce and Nancy Rawlinson of Eye Candy Gallery present a check for the sales so far of Frank’s print of "The Boyd House at Weymouth". There are still prints to purchase and 100% of proceeds benefit Weymouth Center. Everyone who buys a print will receive a raffle ticket to win the original painting.
Eye Candy Gallery & Framing is located at 275 Northeast Broad St., Southern Pines, NC

Spring cleaning?

Donate useful gardening items!

Consider donating garden décor, extra tools, unused pots, extra watering cans, bird feeders, bird baths, house plants and miscellaneous landscaping items that you no longer use to the Weymouth Center Dirt Gardeners. All will be used to either propagate or in future fundraisers to benefit the Weymouth gardens and grounds.

Also, the Dirt Gardeners collect house plants, perennials, shrubs, small trees, as well as ground-coverings and will happily relieve you of your unwanted plantings! Pots may be provided and some limited help in digging is available if needed. Please make arrangements in advance for any donation drop-offs by contacting Kathy Luckhaus at (910-986-3009) or via email at

Weymouth member, Iris Llewellyn Angle, has a book of poems published and for sale! All proceeds will be donated to Weymouth Center.
The book (softcover, 90 pages) will be on sale for $10 at the Sunrise Marketplace on March 20, and at Springfest on April 24.
Here is a sample from the poem, "Walking Weymouth Woods"
I wrap sunshine around my shoulders,
not to keep warm but to remember.
Sky so blue, I cannot describe it,
maybe the blue John Glenn saw when he looked back at Earth on his space ride.
I hear a giant pine tree groan,
Then a stick sprouts wings and flies,
grasshopper foreign in February...
