BLUE SKIES, ASPEN LEAVES, AND WOOL WEATHER

Welcome to October, the best month of the year!  I'm not just saying that because it's my birthday month, either: the days are crisp, the nights are chilly, and we can pull our warm woolies out of the closet.  This October will bring new yarns, new classes, and exciting events.  Keep reading for details: our calendar is jam-packed with events in October!  As always, we're honored and grateful that you choose to spend your time and money with us, and as we approach our first anniversary, we'd like to thank you again for your support.

Happy crafting,

Mary and the CKYC Board
NEW YARN (AND MORE)!

As the weather gets colder, the yarns get cozier!  We're happy to introduce 220 Superwash Sport, a machine-wash (and dry!), sportweight version of Cascade Yarns' popular 220 yarn.  220 SW Sport has 50g to the 136-yard skein, and it sells for $6.50--an amazing value in a 100% wool yarn.  Perfect for baby, kid, and not-so-careful adult knits.

We have another new Cascade offering for you in October.  Cherub Chunky Wave is the Cherub Chunky you know and love, now with a long, multi-colored shift over the course of the skein (just like the popular sock-weight Heritage Wave).  With 136 yards in the 100g skein, this yarn is a bargain at $6.00.  We have five Wave colors in stock and can order any of the others.  We've also restocked Cherub Chunky solids and have three brand-new colors: Grey, Ruby, and Orange Popsicle.

In addition to these new yarns, we're also pleased to offer you an entirely new brand of crochet hook.  Boye Ergonomic hooks feature an extra-long, soft, and comfortable handle, perfect for crocheting all day and all night, and we carry the full line, sizes D-L.

And last, but definitely not least, it's time for new books!  Here's a pro tip: to decide whether a book appeals to you, do a "pattern source" search on Ravelry to take a peek at the insides.  For example, here's Cascade's Neck Effects.  Some books, like Jorid Linvik's Big Book of Christmas Knits, are too new to have Ravelry entries . . . so you'll just have to come browse them yourself!

CKYC ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION!

Can you believe it?  A year has flown by, and October 24 is our official opening anniversary.  To celebrate, we're having an all-day party on Saturday, November 2, from 10 AM to 5 PM.  There will be snacks (there are always snacks), sales, and fun.  What's on sale?  Well, that depends on my mood, but I can tell you right now that subscriptions to the co-op will be $45 for those wishing to renew (or buy a brand-new one).  This is a 10% discount and an excellent way to show your support for CKYC!  Make sure to mark your calendars.

FEATURED FINISHED OBJECT!

Ysabel has finished her Right Angle for You wrap!  This lovely pattern, designed by our own Doris, uses four colors of Universal Yarn Classic Shades, and, despite the sophisticated look, is simple to knit.  Come select your colors and pick up the FREE pattern today.  We hope the weather turns cool enough to wear your shawl soon, Ysabel!
FINGERLESS MITT FRIDAYS!

(Or check out one from the library, such as Mittens from Around Norway.) The class is free with the purchase of two skeins of Cascade 220 Fingering or Heritage sock yarn. Materials: size #1 double point or circular needles, scissors, row counter and a measuring tape. Limit is 5 people.  (One example is shown, but there are lots of options!)
