It's officially spring by the calendar, but there's snow on the ground in Los Alamos today!  Wool is still a great choice for spring knitting--and if you finish a sweater now, it will be all ready to go in the fall.  If spring is tops in your thinking, we have some great cotton and cotton blends available, like Ultra Pima and the new Cotton Supreme Batiks.  Our store window also has a lovely new spring theme, and since it's impossible to take pictures (too much glare), you'll have to take my word for it--or come see it yourself!

Mary and the CKYC Board

As always, we've added new yarns for you to enjoy in April.  We still have some Brew City Lucky Charms, a fingering-weight wool/nylon blend with added bling, and a few of their House Sorting Mitt Kits as well.  Brew City is an independent dyer out of Milwaukee, and we're pleased to offer her yarns.  Also new and popular is Waki Saki, a bamboo-blend sock yarn in "wacky" prints.  Our entire first offering of this yarn sold out (!!), so we've brought it back again.  Snatch it up before someone else does.  Finally, we have Cotton Supreme Batiks, the multi-colored version of Cotton Supreme.  This fun worsted-weight cotton will self-stripe if knit to the right dimensions.

This month's Featured Finished Object comes from Doris.  You'd never guess that this sophisticated sweater was knit in 100% acrylic!  (Doris has a young friend who isn't very careful with his handknits.)  If you're knitting for such a friend, our favorite acrylic is Uptown Worsted, which is soft and comfortable to knit, won't pill, and suits the budget at $5.50 per skein for solid (and heathered!) colors.  Don't forget that we're happy to place special orders at no extra cost for larger quantities or to ensure matching dye lots.
