SUDDENLY SEPTEMBER

We blinked, and all of a sudden it was September!  And, with luck, autumn will be upon us soon, and that means MORE KNITTING!  (And more crocheting, spinning, felting, and all the other fun things we like to do with wool.)  Keep reading to see the new products that we've brought in recently and for information on SOCKAPALOOZA II (Electric Boogaloo).  Our shop hours will remain the same as we move into fall--10-6 Tuesday-Friday, and 10-3 on Saturday, with extended hours for open stitching group every Thursday (4:30-7:30) and the first and third Saturday of the month (2-5).  (Clear as mud?  Check the schedule below or our website at https://closeknityarncoop.com/.)

Happy fall!  Happy crafting!

Mary and the CKYC Board
NEW YARN (AND MORE)!

We have lots of fun new things to share in September.  First up are lovely yarns from Mesa Roja Designs, dyed in your favorite fall colors, including popular colorway "Raven" (pictured at left).  Some even have sparkles!

Next up, TWO new bases from Siren Yarn Co (dyed locally in Santa Fe!): Superwash Fingering and Worsted.  Sarah's colors are absolutely dreamy, and the yarns must be felt to be believed.  We have six colors of Fingering and eight of Worsted.  (Shown in that order.)

Finally, these ones aren't yarns, but they're notable regardless.  Due to popular demand, we are now stocking The Knit Kit!  These nifty little gadgets contain ten indispensable tools for the savvy knitter (or crocheter!) and are a must for keeping your project bag tidy and well-stocked.  We also have several new books for your perusal, such as 60 More Quick Baby Blankets, an absolutely adorable entry in Cascade Yarn's "60 Quick" series.  Click through to Ravelry to browse the patterns virtually, then come into the store to get your own copy!

SOCKAPALOOZA!

It's time for another Sockapalooza!  What is Sockapalooza?   For one day only--Saturday, September 21--co-op member Doris will put her circular sock machine (CSM) to work for YOU!

How it works: purchase a skein of sock yarn from CKYC, and Doris will crank it into a tube for you!  Doris will then show you how to make an afterthought heels so that you can make your tube into socks!  (You can also use your tube to make fingerless mitts, legwarmers, sweater sleeves--the only limit is your imagination.)  Even better, Doris will ALSO crank a skein of your stash yarn into a tube for you with your CKYC purchase.  (Some sock yarns earn you TWO sock tubes--ask Mary for details.)

We'll have snacks, good cheer, and cranking demonstrations all day long, from 10 AM to 5 PM.  Come join us!  (Pictured is a pair of Doris' hand-cranked socks in CKYC-exclusive Mesa Roja yarn, hand-dyed by Wendy!)

FEATURED FINISHED OBJECTS!

We have two FFOs for you this month.  First is Celeste's gorgeous Starry Night Shawl in Classic Shades Sequins Lite.  Celeste has graciously made the pattern available to us, free with purchase of the yarn, and a little bird told me that we're getting a new shipment of the "Midnight" colorway next week!  Second is yet another Breezy Mini Cardigan from Doris.  This is the third or fourth one she's knit (that I know of . . .), and I think it may be the prettiest--just look at those pearl buttons!  This pattern uses Cascade Ultra Pima and comes from the 60 Quick Cotton Knits collection, one of our most popular books.  Doris says she's willing to teach a class if there's any interest--so let us know!
