APRIL SHOWERS HAVE BROUGHT US MAY FLOWERS!

At long last it's really and truly spring!  The birds are singing, the sun is shining, the wind is blowing (of course--it's Los Alamos, after all), and we have spring fever here at Close-Knit Yarn Co-op.  I'm excited about the New Mexico Fiber Crawl--if you couldn't tell from the subject line.  CKYC is hosting the opening reception on Friday, May 17, from 5-9 PM, and there will be other events and demos throughout the weekend.  More information follows below; mark your calendars now.  We look forward to seeing you!

NEW YARN!

We have some nice new yarns for you in May.  We've had the Legacy Lace for some time, but we've been able to add a bunch of new colors.  This wool/nylon blend is economical and light, perfect for spring knitting.  Our other new offering is Bamboo Pop.  Bamboo Pop is a light-DK-weight 50/50 blend of bamboo rayon and cotton that comes with an impressive 292 yards to the skein.  The tanktop pictured only took three skeins, and at $8.00 per skein, that's amazing value!

FEATURED FINISHED OBJECT!

Melanie made this month's Featured Finished Object, and isn't it beautiful?  This is a Virus Shawl--the pattern is free and took the crochet world by storm a few years ago.  If you don't have a Ravelry account, come on in and we'll help you get set up with one.  There's no better way to search for and store knitting and crochet patterns!  Melanie made her Virus with one skein of Mesa Roja Fingering, dyed locally by co-op member Wendy.  We have plenty in stock, and Wendy is happy to take dye requests!   This shawl would also look great in any of our other variegated fingering weights, such as Mountain Colors Twizzlefoot, Nimue sock . . . or a brand-new Very Special Fingering Weight that will be arriving at the store soon!

BONUS FEATURED FINISHED OBJECT!

You get two this month because I just couldn't resist!  Look at Pam's gorgeous vest!

She designed it herself (wow!) using traditional motifs of the Southwest and knit it with many different yarns, including Wooly Wonka purchased at CKYC.  She then beaded the sky to represent constellations--that's Orion in the close-up.  Amazing, right?
