CAN YOU BELIEVE IT'S MARCH?

I sure can't.  Things have been so busy that we just plain skipped a February newsletter!  We weren't especially happy with the end-of-the-month format anyway, so we decided to hit the reset button.  As always, we have lots of new things to tell and show you, and we hope you'll come and see us soon.

Mary and the CKYC Board
NEW YARN!

Pictured below are just a few of the new yarns added since we last spoke.  For those looking forward to spring, we have Cascade Yarns Ultra Pima, a 100% cotton worsted-weight yarn with beautiful sheen and drape.  For those still wanting the warmth and comfort of wool, we have Baah Yarn Sonoma, a 100% superwash wool DK yarn.  (We're the only Baah retailer in the state of New Mexico!  How cool is that?)  And for those who could go either way on spring (just like our weather!), Mountain Colors Twizzlefoot (a wool/silk/nylon fingering weight) would make a great lightweight sweater or between-seasons socks.  For inspiration, may I recommend the latest issue of Interweave Knits?  Speaking of great lightweight sweaters . . .

FEATURED FO!

This month's Featured Finished Object comes from Eleanore, who improvised
this gorgeous seed stitch scarf in Classic Shades Sequins Lite.  The colorway she chose, "Aquarius," is one of our most popular (see that lace poncho in the
same color up there?  I'm not kidding!)  Beautifully-done, Eleanore!

CLASS: EASY LACE PONCHO

Speaking of sequins, the Easy Lace Poncho class
is back once more on March 9 from 10 AM-12 noon.  The class costs $40 or is FREE with purchase of materials (two skeins of Classic Shades Sequins Lite and the pattern).
This will likely be the last time it is offered, so sign up today!  (How to sign up?  So many ways!  Send us an email--closeknityarncoop@gmail.com--or a FB message.  Call the store or simply drop in.)

CLASS POLICY CHANGE

And speaking of classes, we have a slight policy change going forward.  Our instructors' time is valuable, and it's difficult for them to plan when they don't know whether anyone will attend a class. Therefore, going forward, any class that doesn't have at least one confirmed attendee forty-eight hours in advance will be canceled.  Thanks for your understanding!
SOCKAPALOOZA

What's Sockapalooza?  Co-op Member Doris got a circular sock knitting machine (CSM) for Christmas, and she's gone sock-crazy!  For one day only--Saturday, March 16--Doris will put her CSM to work for YOU!

How it works: purchase a skein of sock yarn from CKYC, and Doris will crank it into a tube for you!  Doris will then show you how to make an afterthought heels so that you can make your tube into socks!  (You can also use your tube to make fingerless mitts, legwarmers, sweater sleeves--the only limit is your imagination.)  Even better, Doris will ALSO crank a skein of your stash yarn into a tube for you with your CKYC purchase.  (Some sock yarns earn you TWO sock tubes--ask Mary or another CKYC employee for details.)

We'll have snacks, good cheer, and cranking demonstrations all day long, from 10 AM to 5 PM.  Come join us!  (Pictured is one of Doris' hand-cranked socks in CKYC-exclusive Mesa Roja yarn, hand-dyed by Wendy!)

CLASSES!

Here's (some of) what's coming in March.  Our class schedule changes often in response to real life, and we add new classes all the time.  Make sure you're up-to-date by checking our website: https://closeknityarncoop.com/ or Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CloseKnitYarn/ .  To sign up for a class, call the store during business hours, send an email, reach out via Facebook message, or come on by.  And remember that CKYC subscribers get a 20% discount on all class fees!

Note: at this time, we are scheduling Beginning Knitting and Beginning Crochet by appointment only.  Both classes cost $40, materials included, and take approximately 3 hours.  Please contact the store to book a session!
