Welcome to the off-week, where I deposit a quick link drop of media that has attracted my attention, brought me comfort or knowledge, that brought a fire to my heart, or did some of this for loved ones. Next week, we'll return to our regularly scheduled reviews!

Dessa's IDES album, releasing songs on the fifteenth of the past five months, has given me some of my favorite beats of 2021 to wind up my drive and motivation in a time when I had very little, or none.

VISUALS

I love Input Mag, and this museum of low poly food in video games gave me a lot of good laughs, and some of my colleagues a lot of nostalgia. I haven't played a good chunk of the games pictured here, but perhaps you have.

Recently, I got introduced to the webcomic Finding Home, a gorgeous fantasy romance following Janek and Cheep, two very different people on a journey of circumstance. With deceptive ease, Finding Home deals with queerness, racism, the self and sacrifice/.

PROSE & POEM

Moses Moon's "Face-to-Face, Street-Based, or in Cyberspace—We Are All Prostitutes" is a must-read for understanding the dichotomies in sex work of working from home.

"I want to problematize these simplistic safe/unsafe and privileged/oppressed dichotomies when it comes to internet access and working from home."

Recently, Puerto Rico's Senate voted against a bill that would codify into law a ban on conversion therapy on the island. Justin Santiago, the first trans man on the island to change his name and gender on his birth certificate, talks with Angélica Serrano-Román about his history with conversion therapy in order to try to get families to spare their children this trauma.

“I remember that she asked me if I would ever be happy. And I asked her, are you?” Santiago said.

I cannot express how much I laughed reading "an interview with a woman who just realized her outdoor wedding will very likely be overrun by horny cicadas".

"We don’t have a band or a DJ, so maybe the cicadas will just be the soundtrack."

GAMES

I am soon to going to be chatting with some of my fellow co-hosts from Empty the Queues about A Hand with Many Fingers, a video game about unraveling a CIA conspiracy. It really does strike fear into your heart with such simple mechanics and sounds.
I am an interactive fiction fiend, and recently I replayed one of my favorites; The King of Shreds and Patches, a Lovecraftian-horror set in Elizabethan London. I think interactive fiction can teach us a lot about choice and
