This year The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Sarnia has faced many challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This November 11th, the current pandemic regulations have drastically restricted how we will honour the sacrifices made by our Veterans. This is especially disheartening as 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WW ll.
We are unable to host the usual parade from our Legion Branch to the cenotaph in Veterans Park. We are also restricted from holding the usual Remembrance Ceremony normally held at the cenotaph in Veterans Park.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 is committed to remembering and honouring our Veterans and alternate plans are being developed, regretfully a large public ceremony will not be possible this year.
There will be no pinning of poppies this year, however poppies will be distributed throughout the city. Please wear a poppy and support our veterans.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62 Poppy Funds are reservoirs from which emergency assistance can be given to needy veterans, their dependents and the widows and children of ex-servicemen and women.
If you wish to lay a wreath at the cenotaph in Veterans Park, we have a very limited number of wreaths available this year and they will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Do not mail in your order form and money until you have called (519-384-0056) to confirm that there is a wreath available for you. It will be your responsibility to have someone place your wreath as there will not be a public parade or service. All wreaths must be picked up at the Legion (upstairs) November 5, 6 or 7 between the hours of 11:30 am and 6 pm.
