With Christmas just around the corner, we bring you some happy news, some sad an admin update and an added bonus. It's up to the reader to determine which is which. We'd like to wish everyone well for the festive period.

A New Addition for the O'Connell's

Congratulations to Brendan O'Connell whose wife welcomed a little girl to the world this week. Grace Ava was born on Tuesday at 1.25, 10 days early but all well.

Great news to hear just in time for Christmas and all the best to Brendan for fatherhood.

Here for a Goodill time, not a long time

Jethro Goodill, our Wynberg exchange student leaves us for sunny Cape Town.

A stalwart for the 2nd XI, Jethro brought bounds of energy and enthusiasm and contributed significantly both on and off-the-pitch.

Jethro played in 15 leagues matches during the season, as well as a number of club friendlies, scoring over 200 runs and taking seven catches. His batting numbers could easily have doubled if not for the consistent brain fog on approaching a paper 30.

For someone not (yet) graced with AB de Villiers' speed around the field he took catches and was involved in run outs that put AB to shame. A one handed catch, running back towards the boundary, at Marchmont was one of the best moments from the season.

An opening bat, dynamic fielder and back-up keeper when required, it is saying something that Jethro managed to make even more of an impression off the field. The first to reply to any Chalmers invitation to a social event, Jethro was a big part of the social resurgence at Myreside and Craiglockhart.

We'd love to see Jethro back at Myreside in the future, but wish him well back in Cape Town.
