Seek the LORD while He may be found;
Call upon Him while He is near.

Isaiah 55:6

A Message from Pastor Tony

These words from the book of Isaiah are a reminder that the window is closing on our lives, sometimes faster than we might think.  We at Street Church Ministries are beyond grateful for your support of our ministry.  Several months ago we sent a newsletter about a woman named Judy.  This is her story, or more to the point, the story of how God wrote us all into the final chapter of her life.

Family in Christ

Judy struggled for years with homelessness and addiction. When we met her 10 months ago, it was immediately clear that God's love was in relentless pursuit of Judy.  She became a regular attendee of all Church on the Block activities, but more than that she became instant family to us.  Judy went from no relationship with Jesus, to being baptized within several months.  She found something that many in her current living condition never find.  She found LIFE!  It was real to her, so real that she once said that her favorite part about her new found life was, “singing to Jesus”.

In the recent weeks Judy became weaker and weaker and started wearing down.  A week and a half ago we received the call.  We should not have been shocked to hear that our friend and sister Judy passed away, but nevertheless we were.  Judy was only forty eight years old but sometimes a difficult life and hard living come calling way too soon.

But this is the good news….BUT GOD!
Ten months ago God stepped in and showed Judy through the congregants of this little apartment church in the middle of a war zone, just how much He loved and cared for her.  Judy responded with arms wide open and hugged God like she never had before.

We recently had a memorial for her at Church on the Block and her lovely daughter and sister came.  Our prayer that morning was for comfort and healing to be poured out generously into their hearts and this prayer was answered with an exclamation point!  Judy’s new family in Christ, most of whom struggle or have struggled with similar issues, were truly God’s ambassadors of mercy that morning.  Men and woman who have known Judy for less than a year, who live in the same dark corner of the world, brought so much healing through their kind  words and loving actions to Judy’s family.

Building Into Lives

God is truly a father to the fatherless and a friend of sinners.  As a result of your partnership in this ministry God is changing people from the inside out.  He is making a family where there once was none.  It is simply amazing!  In the near future we have plans of potentially planting a second Church on the Block.  We hope and pray the God allows the privileged to do so.

Thank you so very much for your support which makes it possible to demonstrate God's love in tangible ways.  We have been able to purchase food, clothing and hygiene products for many in the recent weeks.  We have also had the opportunity to pay down bills for others and we plan to help supplement the cost of long term rehab care for several people.  We are truly honored that you have played a part in what God has done and has yet to do through Street Church Ministries.
